So Wags said the Hornet is moving to a monthly schedule. Just curious, does this mean the next update will be 2 weeks from now—4 weeks from the main update 2 weeks ago—or 4 weeks from now, given we just got JDAMs?

we will still get the OB update every 2 weeks but the info sessions were he tells us whats going on with the hornet will be every 4
Oh, cool -- source? Didn't hear that

Hi how to update my hornet (steam version )?and how to check if im on the latest version ? lol newbie sorry...

If the updates were pushed to Steam by ED, it will update your DCS automatically if you have your Steam settings set to do so. Sometimes the updates come as much as a couple of weeks later, but I haven't seen this happen in quite a while.

When you look at your library, on the bottom of the window, if it says "1 of 1 downloaded" or something to that effect, click on it. If it is DCS, it will show you that is what was downloaded (or is downloading if it's in progress).

Hopefully this change not only means a more bug-free release but also more content. I imagine we'll see the final HARM mode and fixes to the JDAM while LANTIRN will be relegated to the June or July update.

F/A-18C; A-10C; F-14B; Mirage 2000C; A-4E; F-16C; Flaming Cliffs 3

You can see your current version number on the lower right side of the main menu (at least in standalone so i guess steam version is similar).

You could check that against latest changelog or something i think.

Not LANTIRN, Hornet uses LITENING and ATFLIR pods. But we will get LITENING first.

Hope we will get a TGP immediately, all GBU's are useless without it, JDAM is kinda useful without it but not accurate.

JDAMs won’t be any more accurate with the TGP. We’ll need to wait for the PRECISE lat long capability for more accuracy.

You can do precise right now, that second time you hit enter is for 100ths of a second :smilewink:

I use MGRS and convert it to the format needed, turns an 80x80 foot box for the JDAM to hit, into an 11x11 inch box and it works a treat. Give it a try :joystick::pilotfly:

You can use them put a JTAC and contact with them to designate targets by laser to the GBUs (or a human player with CA with lase them).

For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

True, but some of us would prefer to load a "JTAC" aboard and carry it wherever we move

Can you please elaborate? What converter are you using and what is the correct output format?

Edit: answering my own question.

- Any converter will do, I found this one to be good enough

- Grab MGRS coordinates from the F10 map (11SPV7805097813 for example), and insert it into converter

- Take the output in "Degrees Minutes Seconds" format and remove the last two digits (36°06'31.1994 > 36°06'31.19)

- Feed it to JDAM by entering "N 36 06 31" as usual, press ENT once, then enter the remaining "19" and press ENT the second time.

When ED complete the new FLIR technology, integrate Litening and ATFLIR, and release them into F/A-18C. Meanwhile that is a option, the other have a companion aircraft designating targets (A-10C, AV-8B, etc). Only can wait and use the available options.

In regards to GBU's, how are you guys finding your targets?.. Assuming it's not at a waypoint, or marked with smoke. Are you entering in the location the JTAC gives? (converting grid to lat lon?)

If you’ll excuse my shameless self-promotion, my mod will have the JTAC read out coordinates in DMS so you can avoid having to do any conversions on the fly. In a couple days I’ll have an update that includes the more precise format for JDAMs.

Nice! This helps a ton! Wasn't trying to convert on the fly.

Will be nice when grid format is available...even better when we can laser spot w/TGP. One step at a time I suppose.
