Highwayman-Ed Posted August 20, 2019 Posted August 20, 2019 Cockpit dirt/bloom lens effects are rendered independent in each eye view, producing a double lens flare/crosseyed effect. +1 here, would it be possible to add an option for glare without lens flare? I would still like the full glare from the sun and lights, just not the lens flare effect itself and turning off lens flare option removes the glare as well. Clorydric Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 Just discover the .fx responsible of this effect... Could anyone give a test to the following mod to confirm it works ? Seems to be good in desktop mode but haven't tried in VR yet. It should pass IC without issue. - Head to "...\DCSWorld\Bazar\shaders\PostEffects" - Backup "lensEffect.fx" (a simple copy-paste should be good) - Open it with notepad++ and look for line 97: pass Ghosts PASS_BODY(vsGhost(), psGhost(), aberrationBlend) Change the last argument to "disableColorOutput", so it looks like : pass Ghosts PASS_BODY(vsGhost(), psGhost(), disableColorOutput) Intel 9900KF @ 5.1GHz / RTX 2080S OC @ 1.93GHz / ASUS Prime Z390-A / 2x16Gb DDR4 @ 3333 CL16 / Corsair TX850M / Samsung NVME 970 EVO+ / TM warthog Thr. / VKB Gunfighter mkIII + MCG / MFG Crosswind mk3 / Valve Index

Many thanks!
Gryzor Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Any hope to implement this in options menu??? devs is very annoying to "update" by myself in each patch... editing its corresponding file. Thanks!
Gryzor Posted November 24, 2019 Posted November 24, 2019 Bump. This little fix is totally necessary in VR, its easy to implement (just mod a config file) please devs make this option in the followings updates. Thanks.
Chamidorix Posted January 5, 2020 Posted January 5, 2020 Yet another bump. This tweak is essential for top end vr graphics. Makes immersion so much better when you can use sun glare. Have to make this edit every update.

GrapeFruiT Posted July 13, 2021 Posted July 13, 2021 Hey guys, this is an old threat, Do we still need this with the current beta version, or did it get fixed within itself or from ED?
captainHelmet Posted July 21, 2021 Posted July 21, 2021 This still works to turn off the double lens flare, while maintaining the sun glare and other effects. 1
schurem Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 I wish it were the default. But I'll just keep putting back the edit after every update. I5 9600KF, 32GB, 3080ti, G2, PointCTRL
GrapeFruiT Posted August 18, 2021 Posted August 18, 2021 Thx for reply, question to make sure for me, so i need to replace / delete the line with aberrationBlend) replace it with disableColorOutput) ?
YoYo Posted December 8, 2024 Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Hi ED Team & @BIGNEWY Is there any chance to finally do it properly for VR users? This has been a problem for years and hasn't been fixed still. The latest update for DCS (with fog) generally improves lighting too, but a lot of people flying DCS in VR don't even know about it because they usually have the lens effect turned off because of the two lenses in the image in the goggles which looks terrible simply. The main problem is that other lighting options are also connected to this after the lens effect. I propose adding some option separating this - lighting effects and lens effect. Even in the VR tab. By currently turning off Lens Effect we lose a lot of cool effects. I also suggest giving the VR tab a turn/off option - a smaller bloom sun effect, which is currently too big. Thank you. Btw. I added a MOD for Lens: The simplest thing you can do is to set the "Lens effect" - on/off in the VR tab (but it only turns off the lens effect like in my mod, one line in the code), and in the General tab, name the Lens effect other like - "Lighting Effects".
