The "Varyag" Slava-class guided missile cruiser of the Russian Pacific Fleet is in San Francisco this week, along with two escorts:

They are supposed to have a few general public admission hours. I'm hoping to be able to make it.

Photo of overhauled and upgraded Turkmenistani Su-25KM "Skorpion" board no. 47M, one of the first Su-25KM "Skorpion" delivered to the Turkmenistan Air Force at 27th October 2004. This probably makes "Skorpion" the only upgraded Frogfoot which has been sold abroad, making the Turkmenistan Air Force the first customer for the new variant.

What is more, Georgia had already overhauled near 43 standard Su-25s for Turkmenistan AF as a payment for Georgian debts for the supply of gas.

Well maybe a few decades back.

But there has actually been a lot of visits like this since the cold war ended.

Everyone is going for it now.

It's taken the place of lots of OV-10s and A-37s in S. America, and will probably take some more in the following years. In addition to that, the U. S. Navy is testing one aircraft for their Imminent Fury project. It's the perfect aircraft for the role - top-shelf avionics, very agile, good loitering capabilities, armoured cockpit (removable for peacetime missions), datalink, reasonable A2A capabilities, very friendly costs for both acquisition and operation...

Some pictures showing all the different paintschemes used by this great little plane :)
