joey45 Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 (edited) so how come I can play it on my Win7 RC1 64bit system then. if you look hard enough you'll see a thread on it. thread > http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40433 Edited August 12, 2009 by joey45 The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Enclave Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 so how come I can play it on my Win7 RC1 64bit system then. if you look hard enough you'll see a thread on it. thread > http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=40433 Well my Flaming Cliffs CD uses Starforce 3.07.14, so I can't play in Windows 7 either.... As the website clearly states Programs protected by v3.07.014 and earlier versions will not support Windows 7. Due to a long lapse of time between old protection versions and Windows 7 beta releases, there are significant differences in technology, which does not allow implementing such support. Users of such products should contact the protected program developers or publishers to obtain Windows 7 patches, or use previous Windows version to run the products. This being the case I can no longer play Lock On. The June update claims there is a forecoming patch, will it address this issue? I realise piracy has pretty much killed the sim industry but this kind of draconian copy protection does nothing but stop legitimate users from playing something they payed for. If the game was incompatible with Windows 7 I would understand, after all, its an old game. But to not be able to play it because the anti piracy software is out of date? This is just absurd.
Sanch0 Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 Regarding A-10C Warthog, the intent is to release sometime in 2010. This is later than Eagle had initially intended, but development time needed to be extended to account for a new Flaming Cliffs product, additional features and functionality that will be added to Warthog, and to ensure plenty of time for mission/campaign creation and testing. As stated in the SimHQ article, further details regarding Warthog will be forthcoming early next year. Perhaps it's too early to ask but... What exactly "new Flaming Cliffs product" mean? Will it be a patch or something bigger? PVAF "A fighter without a gun... is like an airplane without a wing" dedicated to F-4 Phantom

HiJack Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 For Lomac 1.13 I would like to see a dedicated server that run from a console with no GUI user logged in the game making this a "real" :smartass: dedicated server. This will definitely drag new users to the sim. And for survival in the long run, I think a dedicated server is “to be or not to be”. If a dedicated server console arrives, and is resource friendly, I will definitely set server(s) up. The solutions were the server runs on the players PC is just nonsense

Moa Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Can't remember if I mentioned this on this thread already. Having timestamps (in the server time system) on each line of the log files (mp_log and AsyncNet) would make life a bit easier for us parsing the file.s At the moment only the game time is reported and it is a pain for us who parse the logs and try and get times out of them. (Having times in the files makes it very easy to determine duplicates if the same log is parsed again). I don't think adding server timestamps to these files would be a great deal of effort for a 1.13 patch. The headless server idea is also very good. At the moment I'm pricing up server gear and the need to have a video card in the server makes the hosting options very limited and extremely expensive: $1500 rackmount cost with low-profile video card plus monthly co-location fee: vs. monthly hosting fee on one of the many 'headless' servers out there. This expense and limited options means there are few LockOn servers compared to other games - fewer servers mean that players lose interest in the game more quickly (and turn to other games instead). Fewer servers means there is less geographic distribution, giving bad latency for many players. 1
Laud Posted September 13, 2009 Posted September 13, 2009 Ability to add fully funtioning planes, weapons etc. etc.:music_whistling: This request has to be seen very carefully. For Singleplayer: Possible, but you'll get more toys and eyecandy than good simulated aircraft and weapons. For Multiplayer: It would be the beginning of the end. Not for co-op but for PvP. 3rd-party aircraft/weapon-mods which include avionik, performance, cockpits would need to be checked by ED and released as patch. a) to bring the community on a compatible level and b) to guarantee a specific quality-level (which 90% of free modders will most probably not reach...). If one wants tons of 3rd-party AC -> FSX... I would say if the simulation and by that the community is well served by ED there's no need for too many open interfaces... 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, Intel Core i7 9700k , 32gb Corsair DDR4-3200 Asus RTX 2070 super, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2, Win10 64bit, Acer XZ321QU (WQHD) TM HOTAS Warthog, SAITEK Rudder Pedals, TIR 5

The C version has become the standard in the US for a long time. IIRC, back when BS was planed as an addon to lockon, they were going to re-do the missile dynamic of the AIM-120 and call it the AIM-120C, and call the old one the AIM-120B I could be wrong, but maybe this is one thing we'll see in 1.13, if and when it comes.
