Which VR for my rig Rift S or Reverb?

I gave my O+ to my son for DCS and am looking at getting another one for myself. Considering a Reverb or Rift S but am on the fence with the Reverb with my specs. I can easily hold 60+ fps on my O+ with this rig after some tweaking so I figured I would see if anyone has a similar setup and has any observations.

 

My PC: Ryzen 5 3600 @ 4.4Ghz, 2070 Super OC'd, 32Gb PC3600 ddr4, 970 evo ssd

I came from the O+ as well and went straight to the Reverb. Love it. The clarity - thanks to its resolution - is stunning. And, because of said resolution, you don't have to crank up SteamVR's Super Sampling (this also helps with the performance).

What settings are you running on the Reverb? Mine should be here tomorrow hopefully. Currently on a 1080ti with a i5-4690k, waiting on motherboard (be here friday) to upgrade to 3800x so I'm curious how well it'll run with my older i5.

 

Just returned two Pimax 5k+, was running fairly decently for the 10 minutes or so the one was working before it started screen tearing, with around a PD of 1.5 and a SteamVR render at approx 2560x2560.

I run mine on a 6600k and I have to make some compromises, mostly no shadow except terrain at default and no SS in game... and no mirrors in "medium and larger missions" and I get a pretty solid 45 fps and absolutely stunning clarity, my in game PD is 1, as I run at 180% in steam (which is pretty close to native resolution)

I am loving my Rift S with DCS.

Image clarity in cockpit is very good and able to run some fairly high settings with my rig.

I have been using the thing daily since May, and it is a real workhorse.

I own both the Rift S and the Reverb.

 

If you're looking for something for DCS only, the Reverb and only the Reverb is the choice. It is far superior to the Rift S in DCS.

 

For other games, especially those which require complex or fast movement tracking, the Rift S is the better device.

I came from O+ and went for Reverb. I find that Reverb is not one bit more taxing on the performance as the O+, because I could go down in PD. Great Headset...

Where did you buy it from? The one on HP's site is $40 more then amazon, just wondering if they are the same?

I got mine direct from HP. It was on sale for $549. I don't see the regular one on their site anymore, only the pro edition. They had the Reverb on sale black friday for $499 but I missed that.

ok cool, do you know the difference between the pro and regular? I am assuming I want the regular one for DCS?

Just got a chance to play around with my Reverb and coming from the O+, holy crap the clarity is amazing! The FOV is a bit smaller, but easily worth it for the clarity. I can see everything clear!
