Ive got a few questions that ive been meaning to ask for several months now. These questions are directed to the poeple who actually do the coding for Black Shark.

1) What does the average day at Eagle Headquarders include? (is it always hardcore coding, do the guys mess around with eachother, etc)

2) What has been the funniest bug that you have found in the game?

3) What has been the hardest bug/ problem so far to solve?

i dont know has this answered but i liked to know that is BlackSharks sound engine "updated", like different sounds for each planes, tanks etc. And for a planes left and right engine, and for a engines starting etc. :music_whistling:

The new static object around the airbase, will those be collide-able now? Or can we simply go through them like in lock on.
Hmm, I not sure which objects you have in mind... I remember bumping into almost everything in FC. There were and still are some "fly-through" objects, like trees and the airbase fence, but for the most part, everything else is solid.

There are many new effects and samples used in Black Shark, but the sound engine itself has not been significantly changed.

I thought of a question, surprised I never thought of this before.

How much control over the Ka-50's avionics do you have just using the collective and cyclic? What I mean is, does the real layout go under the same philosophy as a fighter's HOTAS, meaning the most important stuff doesn't require any cockpit switches.

Do we get a Hands on Cyclic and Collective? (HOCAC!? )

Once you're fighting, and all your switches are set (laser, weapons, shkval, master arm) you're pretty much 'flying and shooting'.

One thing you will not find on either of those items however is your CMD ...

That's correct. Counter Measure Dispenser.

Ahh... Thanks for the APU talk. I found it very pleasant to listen to.

...so where do you find it?

I've a feeling that I'll need this tidbit.

Right top side canopy rail. You reach out and push the button, it starts executing the CMD program. Most people will probably put that on their HOTAS anyway.

That's right. 'One or two flares' aren't effective anyway ... and you don't want to be sitting there waiting to react to stuff when the CMD can be dispensing your CM's pro-actively. Chances are you'll never see that stinger get launched at you anyway.

So there's no stick button to jst throw out one or two flares on the stick in rl? You have to start a program?

Thats the way it usually is. You have a program that will dispense counter measures in different quatities/frequencies, etc. That way you can tune your program to what you'll be facing. Its probably more meaningful when you have a choice between flares and chaff (can the Ka-50 dispense chaff?) And as GG said, you can launch them proactively. I like to think of this as the "right" way of doing it. :smilewink: You can have your flares coming out automatically while you focus on killing stuff.

Now, to Grooves response, can you program in your own program or are you limited to presets?

Proactive is indeed the way: You can't really tell if that stinger seeker you're pointing at the bandit has locked onto the chopper of the flares its releasing ... this is by the way, one of the reasons you uncage the sidewinder in an F-15 or F-16 before launching it. This does work in LO to some degree.

No, the Ka-50 isn't equipped with a chaff dispenser. I wonder if it would help anyway, TBH ... that rotor's just one gigantic, un-hideable radar target. Also, the Ka-50 is intended for 'low intensity' conflict, and it's not likely to face radar guided SAMs.

To answer your question to Groove, the CMD is programmable and I -believe- Wags demonstrated this in the startup video, but I don't remember.

GGT, very interesting pov

hey GGT, does this mean that the Black Shark won't encounter any radar guided sams in the sim? BTW, isn't the the time frame for the BS in the early nineties like LOMAC?

It certainly will if the mission designer puts it in there.

Just out of curiosity - does the new upgraded FM for AI (pretty much the SFM of LO - no?) make a noticeable difference to their behaviour ?

Cheers.

Correct, the FM used for all fixed-wing aircraft in Black Shark is equivalent to the 'SFM' used in LO for all of the flayable aircraft other than the Su-25/T. As far as gameplay impact - it's probably not significant from your Ka-50 cockpit, but it is an important step in building up the battle space to a more realistic level. If watching AI flights, the difference can be quite noticeable (they now fly with a visible AoA, for example), but don't confuse AI behavior routines with AI FM code. :)

Round earth?

Looking at this image:

blackshark6wi7.jpg

It's looks like a orthographic projection map. Is BlackShark terrain round or flat? Can you select the projection in the Mission editor? (for example, orthographic projection - UTM projection and so on).

Regards!!

Following alamahama,

I would like to get answers for my questions posted here:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=482237&postcount=27

"Faked" orbital mechanics, or real orbital mechanics (for sats)?

Is this time world a spherical real size Earth with more detailed areas and empty ones, or is it still flat like it is in LOCKON?

If we switch to F11 view and raise our view ALT to 300KM would we actually see that DCS world is a single solid sphere?
