hannibal Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 (edited) hey..urze...i see u are reeling in the customers.... urze mod is a good alternative, if you are not technically inclined, or do not want to waste weeks or months building a controller... i spend 8 months building my setup...(collective, torque pedals, and long shaft cyclic) http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/2673/picture001xv3.jpg and if you happened to have millions to spend..check this out... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2vGwIpegbI Edited October 1, 2008 by hannibal 1 find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
531-Ghost Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 :) I will not add a twist grip to it - 1.it would raise the costs dramatically - 2.nearly all modern Helicopters have an automated RPM governor and many of them even don't have a twist throttle at the collective stick nowadays (see the KA50 for instance). Don't lump the AH1/UH1 Helicopters in that mix ;) :joystick:

Most professional producers of input devices for simulations think there's only Millionairs playing theses sort of games... Are we going to see a similar release for the stick-extensions, too? Right now, I only play fixed-wings-sims, so this stick-extensions would be more reasonable for my limited gaming-budget, right now. :( PS: Nice Avatar. Watched Wall-E yesterday - definitely a movie watch together with your girlfriend :smilewink: 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I have been thinking of doing and extention, I just havn't sat down and opened it up yet.:D:joystick: The above has been based loosely upon my own opinions. :pilotfly:

I visit your site on at least a weekly basis, looking for your nice videos and explanations or just to get some inspiration for modding or pit-building. :smilewink: As stswrebel I have both, the Cougar and X52, but due to some broken potis I mixed my Cougar up with an old gameport Fighterstick fitted with X42 potis. An unholy breed, I know, but it works extremely precise, especially with my current stick-extension. :D But as I just got a cheap replacement for original potis, I will probably revert them to their original configurations and then an extension for the Cougar would be really handy. urze Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) You are right- there are twist throttles on their collectives. But AFAIK are the newest upgraded versions equipped with a RPM governor. So you touch the throttles normally only twice during a flight: When you start the engines and when you shut them down. When the pilot use them under other conditions something bad happed. This is also the one of the greatest reasons for helicopter crashes - faulty power management.(edit:That means that the pilot touched the throttles without a need) So a RPM governor is todays standard when not at least a must for a save flying . A RPM governor makes piloting a helicopter half that complicated. Edited October 3, 2008 by urze Leftside Limited - ideas and solutions
urze Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 (edited) If this all refer to my collective-mod and a lack of a twist throttle: You can easily assign a axis of the analogue Hat-switch as throttle.(That means not as axis! Read it as something like: x-axis+ means power up- and x axis - means power down. All manageable through the Saitek SST programming software. Because if you would assign them as throttle axis 1:1 you have to hold the axis in this position all the time. When you release the chosen 'value' it also would go to nominal.) strannick Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 yes, you should invert the throttle to make it more realistic. a real collective starts at the floor, and you pull up to increase collective pitch. do you know how to invert the throttle on a x52 throttle?

LtFransky Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 The use of the malleable steel pipe is a great idea Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die. A man walks into a zoo. The only animal in the entire zoo is a dog. It's a shitzu
IvanK Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Standard CH Pro throttle mounted with Velcro, Can easily be removed and placed on flat surface to use as a normal throttle.
opformaster Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I like it Ivan! How do you keep the collective from moving so freely? Mine wont stay put in that position, it just slides back down to the down position. Is there a way to tighten up the slide of the pro throttle? IvanK Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 It just seems to have enough friction to stay there most of the time. Nothing special added.
opformaster Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I may have to crack my throttle open and see if there is anything I can tighten. emenance Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 For the guys who still fly the jets I think thats the best example I have seen so far. BUT I still like URZE's collective and have a saitek throttle to dedicate to it. I would still like to see the finished thing and a bit or a write up from IVANK on how to use it that way, and maybe compare to the URZE collective????? Thank you!!
