Just put the "tech" folder in Saved Games\DCS\mods location and "Mods" folder inside randomly named folder (eg. "Nin's MiG-21 sound mod") in your OvGME repository where you keep your other mods. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Art-J Posted April 26, 2023 Posted April 26, 2023 Hello @Nin. It seems there is some compatibility issue of your mod with latest version of Open Beta, 2.8.4.39313. During troubleshooting of seemingly unrelated problem of F-86 Sabre Instant Action missions on Normandy 2 map causing DCS crashes, I discovered the problem is somehow caused by the part of your mod which needs to be extracted into Saved Games location. I'm not knowledgeable enough to narrow down which file is the culprit, unfortunately. The mod part that goes into the root folder doesn't cause any problems it seems. Could you please investigate? i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Roostyla Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 Hi, I've been trying to use this mod while in multiplayer servers however im getting client is tainted 'mods/aircraft/mig-21bis/cockpit/clickabledata.lua' Is this a limitation of the mod or is there a workaround? Thanks

Temetre Posted August 6, 2023 Posted August 6, 2023 This is an amazing mod, thank you! Mig-21Bis is a ton of fun as a module, the only real issue I found the sound (eg engine noise location).
Art-J Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 As an update to my April post above, I'm happy to report that whatever was causing DCS crash with that mod back then, seems to have been fixed sometime later, because the mod appears to be working OK with the latest Open Beta. 1 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
pepin1234 Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 (edited) This mod fixes the sound when I get missile hit. I'm not able to hear the impact and I just realize I'm hit after engine RPM go down. It's a bug? Edited September 9, 2023 by pepin1234 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
exhausted Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 I feel like people give too much credence on sounds recorded with lousy mics
VikingSail Posted February 5, 2024 Posted February 5, 2024 (edited) This is a great mod! it really addresses the issue of the MiG-21bis module having sub-par sound effects for today's standards. The audio feedback from the throttle level and the afterburner helps with knowing what state the engine is running at greatly. I've been using it for a while and unless I'm mistaken, it used to be IC-compatible. However, unfortunately i just found out as of 2.9.2.49940, it breaks the IC check for mods/aircraft/mig-21bis/cockpit/clickabledata.lua on servers with "pure scripts" enabled. if i replace it with the original file, some of the sound effects for e.g. the engines, closing and sealing the cockpit still work. but it will lose all of the nice sounds for the switches/buttons in the cockpit. the vanilla sound effect for the switches simply sound too dull imo. I really hope there is a way around that! Edited February 7, 2024 by VikingSail 2

Unfortunately any server that uses IC check won't work with some aspects of this mod - the interior sounds for buttons etc require one of the coremods files to be modified which could also be use for hacks etc. Exterior sounds should still work. 1 1
Rudel_chw Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 (edited) Great Mod @Nin ... seems to work fine on my latest DCS 2.9.10 ... of course on Single Player only I was looking for a better sound for the internal Gun, as I'm editing a Gun Strafing Training mission and found that the internal Gun sounds so much different from the underwing Gun pods, in spite of being the same weapon. Are you still developing this Mod? as I see that a gun sound was planned for v4 Edited December 11, 2024 by Rudel_chw 2 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Art-J Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 There used to be a couple of GSh-23 sound mods for MiG back in the old days. They never got very popular, though, because apparently external sound is hardcoded to be shared with one of FC-3 planes and Gazelle I think (?). Thus, if you mod the sound sample in MiG by simple file replacement method, you will mess up the cannon sound in these other aircraft. 1 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Correct, but it wasn’t a problem for me as I’m not currently flying those types. Art-J Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I'm in similar situation, not even owning these aircraft. Shame about the mod, I used it in 1.5.xx-2.5 era, but haven't tried using it in a loooong time, probably because of aforementioned encryption limitation . 2 i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Alkaline Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Does this work without issues? I have it installed, but sometimes there is no engine sound in cockpit.. X-55 Rhino guide to configure the Mouse Nipple to work as TDC slew! My rig AMD FX-8320 @ 4.4GHz 8GB RAM R9 270x 2GB SSD Win 8.1 Pro
Art-J Posted May 18 Posted May 18 You'll have to narrow down this "sometimes". The mod still seems to be working fine for me in current DCS version, but I only do simple singleplayer missions and have no other sound mods installed. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

So for offline is still ok.
