Cytarabine Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 Just wondering does the Viper have (IRL) and is it intended to get (for real) flyout cues similar to the Hornet has? They are very useful (particularly to know when to go nose cold or when to look at that bit of sky for the pop).
Frederf Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 There are letter-number cues relating to different stages of the AIM-120's flight and status. "H" "M" "T" "L" and seconds. But there is no location of the missile on the HUD once it's in flight.
Zergburger Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 in its current state we will never have 100% accurate flyout info because a real amraam has HPRF and MPRF active. the DCS amraam onhly has one stage of active guidance the "H" time is time til HPRF active Brevity: Husky the "M" time is time til MPRF active Brevity: Pitbull

High and medium pulse repetition frequency modes determine seeker's ability to find and track targets under different conditions, especially aspect thus closing speed of the target due to the size of the notch filter. You need lower range MPRF to reliably track more tricky target. But I wouldn't say ED will never model this different active modes of AMRAAM - other simulators managed to do that many years ago. And AMRAAM is the most basic and the most important weapon of their two flagship modules - Hornet and Viper. I wouldn't be surprised if the rework they plan will include high and medium pulse repetition frequency modes. Edited February 16, 2020 by bies
skywalker22 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 Is there any news about AMMRAAM having HRPF stage in DCS?

MARLAN_ Posted April 1, 2022 Posted April 1, 2022 (edited) I was told HPRF/Husky was supposed to be coming "next patch" about 10 patches ago, so I think it was forgotten. I truly hope you`re wrong! It would be so awesome to have amraam acting as close to reality as possible. 2

HappyVoo Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 The current missile is from A to T, but there is also HPRF reminding M that we do not need to continue to maintain the radar. 2
