Nobody noticed significant lower performance in latest 2.5.6.50321? For me, I get 20% less fps than before, with exact the same graphical settings.

Stutters in VR

Yayyyyy.... We have ground radar. Too bad we can’t use it because performance gets worse and worse. I think ED really needs to step back and figure out what the hell they think they’re trying to do.

I have a high end system and an HP Reverb. The way the SC or even a collection of 2 or 3 Fx18’s and/or F-14’s brings on the hard stutters is really making me want to change to a different game. They need to fix this stuff and optimize this mess. This really is an optimization problem.

ED has totally lost control over their code because they are focused on releasing paid modules to keep money flowing.

I am pretty sure that performance improvement they are promising are based on community mods being integrated in the game (central only msaa from be shader mod for example).

For me since the introduction 2.5.6 DCS is looking worse than before in VR (0.9 pd no msaa, pd1.3 msaa*2 on 2.5.5) and has never ran so poorly. I am really worried about it's future...

@ED: Fix the damm sim for VR we´re now 5 months without solutions since 2.5.6 disaster (NEAR A HALF YEAR???)... not only in FPS, images not rendered in one EYE, this in pathetic. Stop launching unplayable modules and optimize & put vulkan on play you won´t see any $$$ until fixed.

@ED: Thanks for the unique VR experience I enjoy every day. I am looking forward to the resolving of the rendering issues in the current OpenBeta. Please continue to launch further content so I can throw my money in your general direction ;-)

Yeah I was planning on getting the F-16, the F-14, and The Persian Gulf map. But with these latest steps backwards in my performance in VR I’m going to use that money elsewhere.

They need to fix this stuff or DCS is essentially dead.

At this point I'm thinking about rolling back to 2.5.5 stable. That was fantastic. I'd really hate to lose Supercarrier, but I've just about had it with the 2.5.6 disaster.

Just to be clear, please fix the perf issues in VR, I really don’t care about anything else right at the moment.

Thought I post it here too:

For everyone having stutters like every two seconds - in my case it was HWINFO64 which caused the stutter/framedrop/frame loss on any settings! Closed it and the stutters went away - tested it again with starting it again while in flight, and stutters came back, turned it off and stutters went away again. Strangely it didn't even matter if I was monitoring anything or nothing at all.

The reason why I had it every two seconds was because HWINFO64 logged/monitored everything every 2000ms.

Hope this helps someone else too!

Are you asking me? I am kind of getting confused from time to time :helpsmilie:

It's a hardware monitoring software, it's not on Windows by default, you need to install it. Anyway, it doesn't matter which software it is, the point is that if you use a monitoring software with a high polling rate, it might degrade your performance. For example, I set my polling rate to 5 sec for MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision X1, to minimize this.

Actually, I have HW monitoring disabled most of the time, since I know how my system performs and I'll just use it occasionally to check for changes, if any. Temperature and voltage protection is built in, so it'll kick in even if you don't run any monitoring software yourself.

Just to be clear: In my case it gave me frame drops even if monitoring was set to off but HWINFO64 was still running. It has to be closed completely to get rid of these stutters/drops in frames.

What I tested a moment ago, since I had a possible workaround for this problem or so I thought at least, was to set the affinity to a single thread. But still got these drops. I should mention that I didn’t set the affinity for DCS accordingly - which is actually a little dumb from my side. Will test it with core 0-6 for DCS and number 7 (this is a virtual core so it shouldn’t matter for DCS) for HWINFO64. Will report back if it is a workaround!

So this didn't work unfortunately. No matter what affinity I am using, no matter the priority set for HWINFO64, it still gives me these drops from 90FPS down to 70 for a splitsecond every 2000ms. Very sadly I have to admit that the long beloved program HWINFO seems to have a very big problem that shouldn't exist. Why I am saying that? Well MSI Afterburner is also monitoring my GPU without any drops or something similar. So the problem lays on the side of HWINFO64. It could be a sensor problem but I won't bet on that. But what do I know?!?

Performance in 2.5.6.50726

If anyone from ED is reading this: whatever you guys are doing to improve VR performance, is working!

Based on what I've seen so far in 2.5.6.50726, my framerate is quite a bit smoother than in the previous builds (and they were in turn better than the ones before those).

Keep it up!

Same for me.

Never seen stable 90 fps before while flying in Nevada with shadows set to HIGH.

I will now start figuring out how far I can go with pixel density, but I got used to use 1.0, so every increase is a bonus for me.

Hopefully this will be the same when flying with friends on the same server.

Loading time when starting up DCS is also reduced, which is now very nice again.

Keep it up ED, at least for my computer this update makes a difference! Im slowly getting happy again.
