hrnet940
I am new to this and hope I am doing this correctly. I have been crashing every time I try to fly anything in the F/A-18C Hornet. If I get in to the cockpit, that is great progress. I have tried Training, Instant Action, Missions, and everything, but it always crashes within 5 minutes of starting anything. It started to act up and crash shortly after the second last update. I was hoping that the latest update today would correct my issues, but nothing changed. Should I remove everything and perform a fresh reload of DCS or what? It is VERY frustrating when I get some time alone and can get training/flying in, but it crashes ALL the time. Yours Frustrated, Wayne Wilson i went through this. i tried every bit of advice i could find but nothing worked. drivers, shaders, blah,, blah. i have been in IT since 1989 and always had PCs for gaming so i do not count myself as an ignoramus. i finally deemed it was my video card so i bought a new 1080 ($800!). when i got the card and installed i watched the progress of the drivers for nvidia and saw something that indicated the process was replacing files and one note was like 3 years old. so i think in my case, even after trying to get rid of the drivers, it turned out to be the drivers. not sure why. the way windows works is that a new piece of hardware will require a whole new set of drivers. so... good luck. PS - so another thing i did not do was to install the experience application. just drivers as i saw some posts mentioning this as the culprit. i never have used / installed this since new card and have not had any crashes. i play some missions that are 90 minutes. hrnet940
Where do I get the track file from? What do you mean with "I think the OP means the game crashes, not the aircraft. " I have done several repairs, but that didn't seem to repair what is wrong. It happens with my F/A-18C, F-16C, SU-33 and Spitfire Lk Mk.IXc. I am using mods from Helios for my F/A-18C, F-16C and SU-33 to use my second monitor as an instrument panel. I was trying to use OvGME to manage my mods and found more than one video on how to set it up. It is unclear to me the proper steps, if any, to perform before or after an update has been released from Eagle Dynamics. I think the best thing for me would be to remove everything and start with a fresh install. I really enjoy flying DCS and like it more than Lockheed Martin' P3D, but wish the map was bigger. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated and very helpful to get me back in the air and enjoying DCS once again. Patiently waiting your knowledgeable advice for a nugget. hrnet940
I updated my video board back in December 2019 from my old NVIDIA GTX 660 to the new EVGA NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super Ultra, along with a new power supply to provide me the power to run my new graphics card. I jumped from 30-40 FPS to a whopping steady 75 FPS. It was working great until me messing around with OvGME. I like the Helios profiles and what they do to engage a second monitor displaying my instrument panels for more immersion and getting my home built cockpit more complete. I ensure that all of my drivers are up to date and think that I corrupted something and it is not fixing with the repair function. Thanks for the words of wisdom. Looks like my next step is to remove and install a fresh version, but still waiting for a 'GO' or 'NOGO' on the remove and fresh install. If I do go down the fresh install rabbit hole, any words of advice or what to save and/or delete to ensure a near flawless install? Should I remove everything on the C drive and the Saved Games folder or can I keep the Saved Games folder or .... simapajik
Did you not open the graphics.lua folder? Me DCS worked. And when I set max fps to 30 in this folder, DCS crashed every time I load. I tried all the settings as recommended. Vypl antivir. Nothing helped. I think that the fault of DCS fall is the identification of graphics.lua file I reinstalled the whole sim. Complete clean installation. It works. But you must not open the graphics.lua file Then comes a crash when loading. <White Tiger> [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

ED Team BIGNEWY Posted February 23, 2020 ED Team Share Posted February 23, 2020 Keep adding your crash logs it will help the team try to understand what is going on for you. Ensure windows is up to date including all display drivers. At this point I would go for a complete reinstall of DCS including renaming your dcs folder in saved games. you should not be editing any files it will only create problems. thanks Forum rules - DCS Crashing? hrnet940
How should I go about removing my current version? Use the Add/Remove programs in Control Panel or is there a better way? Cutter5
Had an MP session with friends today, 2 of them experienced a crash with the Ka-50 once, another friend in F-16 and me in the Hornet. The crashes happened randomly, or it seems like randomly. My system is up to date, besides SRS and a few liveries I don't use any mods, and I deleted the fxo and metashader folders today. DCS was able to do a crash dump, and I allowed DCS to send it to the team, but hereit is for reference. hrnet940
I followed what you told me to do and it still crashes. I performed the cleanup and repair from inside the bin folder. I tried to fly my F/A-18C, F-16C and the Spitfire Mk.IX and all three crashed at various times. I even moved to flying the Instant Action Free Flight in the Nevada map and it still crashed. The F-16 made it the longest and it wasn't until I quit to go back to the main menu that it crashed. I am including the three zipped crash logs that I have from today's flight. Hope these help. When it crashed yesterday and today it goes to a black screen and my mouse pointer only. I can't see the crash windows that come up and allow me to type stuff in. I found hitting the ESC key flashes those screens and after hitting the ESC key three times it finally shuts down DCS and kicks me back to my desktop. Hope this helps.
