RedTiger Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 The search feature of this forum doesn't seem to like my use of the words "buy" and "DVD" since they are only 3 letters long... :wallbash: Has ED said anything about releasing Black Shark on CDs or a DVD, in the same way they released Flaming Cliffs? If someone could kindly point me in the right direction to find this, I'd appreciate it! :)
Sundowner.pl Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 There was no such discussion... because, it doesn't matter, there is no price difference today, and everybody have DVD drives. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If a place needs helicopters, it's probably not worth visiting." - Nick Lappos
RedTiger Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 Hmm...I don't think I was totally clear. I don't care about them using DVD vs CD! I just want to know if ED has said that they'll be releasing BS on disk as opposed to download only. No Starforce bashing here, I just vastly prefer having CDs or a DVD in a box rather than a downloaded file.
159th_Viper Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Same here - never have and never will purchase Downloads. Need the Box :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? ED Team Wags Posted November 12, 2007 ED Team Posted November 12, 2007 No decision has been made. It will either be two CDs (game is around 1.2 GB) or a single DVD. Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
VMFA117_Poko Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 DVD with a bonus (some videos maybe)? Come on. We deserved for a surprise for such a wait :D

Ratgnagna Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 game is around 1.2 GB Only?? :dunno: Sorry for my poor english... :helpsmilie: Bye! ;)
SuperKungFu Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Yea I would prefer a cd, also, if DCS do decide to use starforce, could the time limit for the cd version be expanded to like a month. That would be great, I don't have to carry around the cd anymore. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
RedTiger Posted November 12, 2007 Author Posted November 12, 2007 No decision has been made. It will either be two CDs (game is around 1.2 GB) or a single DVD. 1 DVD, 2 CDs, 1000 1.44 MB floppies...as long as you release a hard copy of it I can buy, I'll be a happy vPilot. A collector's edition would be cool too.
VMFA117_Poko Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 A collector's edition would be cool too.Yeah. That what I meant. See how Team can earn extra money. We love such things like limited editions. Also can help getting mark more attractive for supporters and then vice-versa. Look on ED support with Saitek and that wasn't even wide open. How many of us own x52 now?
britgliderpilot Posted November 12, 2007 Posted November 12, 2007 Only?? :dunno: I'd be astonished if the final install is only 1.2Gb - but the compressed installation files might well weigh in around that much. Certainly it won't fit on a single CD. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v121/britgliderpilot/BS2Britgliderpilot-1.jpg
Boberro Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 It would be nice ED release also example a movie how did you Ka-50, simple ED from "kitchen", or one day from ED's life :D Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Rikus Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Extra Bonus can Be the Manual like a book, and not in pdf. Greetings
Haegar Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Well, honestly - I know I am old fashioned - but for me a printed (and included) manual is still an essential part of a software. Everything else is customer unfriendly ...
159th_Viper Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I would imagine that if a printed Manual be made available then the cost of the product would be Prohibitive......cannot be cheap to print a 600+ page manual :) Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? It is not cheap. It would rise a cost dramatically. I wouldn't count on printed manual.
Haegar Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 depends on how many will be printed ... most expensive part is to configure the printing machines ... the higher the edition the lesser the price per copy
Yellonet Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I would imagine that if a printed Manual be made available then the cost of the product would be Prohibitive......cannot be cheap to print a 600+ page manual :)You wouldn't need to have everything printed, only the fun parts and things that will not change with patches and addons, you don't want the manual to become useless after the first patch ;) Tactics and general info and such things would work well in paper, key bindings and feature lists is not so good as they are subject to change, a quick reference card would be good though to get started. Then when a new flyable is released a paper manual for that could be released to be put in the same binder as the regular manual. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Yellonet Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 depends on how many will be printed ... most expensive part is to configure the printing machines ... the higher the edition the lesser the price per copyMaybe they'll go with the same solution as for Lomac - pay extra for paper manual. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Boberro Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 depends on how many will be printed ... most expensive part is to configure the printing machines ... the higher the edition the lesser the price per copy Yes it is true but still cost of minimum 600 hundred pages of paper (plus we ED must choose a paper quality, color or black-white ect). still will be high... Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Yellonet Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Yes it is true but still cost of minimum 600 hundred pages of paper (plus we ED must choose a paper quality, color or black-white ect). still will be high...Do they really need to print 600 pages? i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
Haegar Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I don't think so .... depends on many parameters ... format, type of printing machines, number of colors, type of paper and and and ... edit: or did you mean that the manual itself has to have a minimum of 600 pages?
Boberro Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Do they really need to print 600 pages? Hmmm, ED could print the most important things on 200 (?) pages example, we don't need a missle presentation, or "how to play in multiplayer" ect. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
