captain_dalan Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 Question about the new update, it says: "Improvements to pilot stick travel animation" Does this mean the stick has been moved back in the default-idle state too? fat creason Posted March 20, 2020 Posted March 20, 2020 The main fix involved the pitch trim having an exaggerated contribution to the animation in certain areas of the trim travel. The stick's "zero" or neutral position is still the same. Systems Engineer & FM Modeler Heatblur Simulations
captain_dalan Posted March 20, 2020 Author Posted March 20, 2020 Ah, good to know! Uxi Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Is there a reason the default stick position hasn't been changed yet? captain_dalan Posted March 21, 2020 Author Posted March 21, 2020 I have heard otherwise from both devs and SME. Indeed, me too. I just can't find the relevant thread right now :book: Modules: FC3, Mirage 2000C, Harrier AV-8B NA, F-5, AJS-37 Viggen, F-14B, F-14A, Combined Arms, F/A-18C, F-16C, MiG-19P, F-86, MiG-15, FW-190A, Spitfire Mk IX, UH-1 Huey, Su-25, P-51PD, Caucasus map, Nevada map, Persian Gulf map, Marianas map, Syria Map, Super Carrier, Sinai map, Mosquito, P-51, AH-64 Apache, F4U Corsair, WWII Assets Pack
Golo Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Yes, because it is accurate. Its not accurate, it was shown that the stick is partly clipping through HSI in its forward most position. So fixing trim issue is great, but please fix the sticks neutral position and travel range too so we can actually see the HSI display.
Uxi Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Unfortunately it isn't completely correct, indeed it is a bit forward too much. It is on our list, just lower priority. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4188441&postcount=11 Specs & Wishlist: Core i9 9900k 5.0Ghz, Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero, 64GB G.Skill Trident 3600, Asus RoG Strix 3090 OC, 2TB x Samsung Evo 970 M.2 boot. Cobra847 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Neutral position is correct. Has been verified. Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/
Airhunter Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Neutral position is correct. Has been verified. Exactly, talking the neutal position here. I wasnt aware of it clipping through the HSD in the full forward position.
some1 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 The stick animation is definitely NOT correct, and I doubt that the neutral position is realistic. Look at the amount of travel this guy can achieve when pulling a stick. In DCS there's no way you can pull the stick so far as to see the gauges below HSI. That's as far as it goes on the screenshot below: Compare how far from the dashboard is the stick during approach in real life to what we have in similar conditions in DCS: Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil WarBRD, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

draconus Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Thx, please do, as current implementation suggests most awkwardly placed MFD in aviation ;) Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

RustBelt Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Why does the center console of that fighter fling video still look completely diffrent? Is that an F14D? because it doesn't look like it has a lower screen at all.
punk Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 We'll take another look and let you know. Seems to be a disconnect between the development team as Ironmike addressed this earlier as a known, low priority, future to-do-list project. See post before yours for link. :punk: Punk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
some1 Posted March 24, 2020 Posted March 24, 2020 Why does the center console of that fighter fling video still look completely diffrent? Is that an F14D? because it doesn't look like it has a lower screen at all. It's a D. The screen is gone, but the console is still in the same place: Anyway, another way to look at it is that the NATOPS says that the stick has 4 inches forward travel and 5,5 inches aft from neutral. Don't know where those inches are measured exactly, most likely where the pilot rests his hand. But I superimposed the neutral, full aft and full forward position on one screenshot and the result doesn't seem to hold that 4 / 5.5 ratio of travel, at least on DCS camera. The guys at Heatblur can measure the model precisely in 3dsMax.
