TBP_pilot Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 everytime i try to take off from a carrier, i set de right trim (according to the actual weight), once i got launched, the plane seems not to have enough power to put the nose up and take off by itself. i tried taking off from an airlfield , and it happens the same. need help. thank you in advance i7 9700K 16GB RAM RTX2070S
kengou Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 What flap settings? Are you using afterburner? Harker Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 You should take off with flaps to Half (maybe Full if you're particularly heavy) and trim 12 for airfield takeoffs and 16, 17 or 19 for catapult takeoffs, depending on how heavy you are (16 for below 45,000lbs, 17 for 45,000-48,000, 19 for 49,000+) Normally, you don't need to use afterburner unless you're 49,000+. If that doesn't work, post a track. You can press RCtrl+Enter to bring up the controls indicator and see how your throttle behaves. And make sure that you turn off the Afterburner detent option in the Special options or bind detent buttons to use otherwise. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. TBP_pilot Posted April 12, 2020 Author Posted April 12, 2020 I use Half Flaps, no AB, Trim @17, and apparently once i got launch, trim reset to zero, making no possible the nose go up. (i've noticed that using external view) Once in the air, with L/G up, and Flaps UP, can't gain altitude and speed (even with the AB) i7 9700K 16GB RAM RTX2070S
Hammer1-1 Posted April 12, 2020 Posted April 12, 2020 (edited) this helps. open up your FCS page to get the trim numbers dialed in, and you can also look at your other MFD to get the actual weight of your aircraft to get the proper trim numbers. not really sure off the top of my head which page that is, but its not hard to find. someone will likely pop in and say which page Im referring to is. MadCat1381 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 AC weight is on the CHKLST subpage of the SUPT main menu (top right OSB). If your weight is above 44k lbs an AB launch is required, below that weight, it's more or less the pilot's choice. Trim will reset as soon as you raise the flaps, as the FCC changes to in flight mode (in the Super Hornet, it is called "up and away" not shure about the legacy Hornet).
Larkis Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Do you use a catapult to start from the carrier? And you dont need to reset trimm. Just raise flaps and gear and hold afterburner until you are above 250kn. Use the stick to hold the nose down and dont climb above 500ft until you are 8nm away.
CBStu Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 If you fly one of the included missions that takes off from a carrier does it work then? I have never had a problem and I always take off w/ full AB.

Hammer1-1 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 post a track, we'll take a look and see whats going on. doesnt have to be a big one, just from start to launch. from your screenshot, I see your throttles are only at 95%. do you have your afterburner detent turned on by any chance? The_Sko Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Make sure you are using the "finger lift both" key while you take that throttle hand and mash it all the way forward, you are spooling up a little slow, FULL throttle.
randomTOTEN Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 ASI says that's 180 knots off the bow, but it looks around 100..very strange.
Hammer1-1 Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 (edited) I can probably see what is going on here...cant confirm it, but it looks like you are standing on your brakes. as a matter of fact, you are. Check your axis for your toe brakes and invert the axis...or press W before you cat launch. randomTOTEN Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 I think his screenshot of the controls indicator shows his brakes released...
The_Sko Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 definitely a power issue, either not full power or something slowing it down.
maxTRX Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 definitely a power issue, either not full power or something slowing it down. Not by any indications from instruments (at least not that I can see). Any tinkering with files/mods?
donkeyrider Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 Check also that you are in Sim mode, not Game mode in your settings. Hope this helps.

Hammer1-1 Posted April 14, 2020 Posted April 14, 2020 i'm not using the brakes Using the brakes isnt any more different than your brakes being set unintentionally. The way it looked on takeoff was your aircraft was dragged across the deck. Im almost 100% certain your brakes are locked. If you're so certain its not, post a track file and not a video. I can be wrong, but I dont think I am.
