reece146 Posted April 30, 2020 Posted April 30, 2020 I know there's a few threads already discussing WWI planes and such... Flying the CE2 in Normandy was fun: flying down rivers, the beach, zooming villages, etc. Would be a good spot for some WWI action.
BerryMORE Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Yep) it will be fantastic) Не лазить руками туда, куда не лезет голова © USSR_Rik
Evoman Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 I definitely support there being some WWI airplanes in DCS because it would be very fun and popular. But as is Eagle dynamics has their hands full for quite some time. So It would have to be up to a new 3rd party that has the passion for the WWI era to make it happen in a reasonable amount of time.
Ikaros Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 I don't want to break any forum rules but the reality is that there is a brand new World War 1 flight sim from another company, have you all looked at that?
Buzzles Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 The search functionality is great, it'll tell you there's quite a few threads for WWI already. Like the big one from 6 weeks ago: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=266193&highlight=wwi Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
Rudel_chw Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 There were several Mods for ww1 aircrafts, but the DCS evolution left them behind :( For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
Svsmokey Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Would require a dedicated map , and at least some assets . Flight models would be problematic as well . Not many original WW1 aircraft flying , particularly with period engines . 9700k @ stock , Aorus Pro Z390 wifi , 32gb 3200 mhz CL16 , 1tb EVO 970 , MSI RX 6800XT Gaming X TRIO , Seasonic Prime 850w Gold , Coolermaster H500m , Noctua NH-D15S , CH Pro throttle and T50CM2/WarBrD base on Foxxmounts , CH pedals , Reverb G2v2
Kang Posted May 15, 2020 Posted May 15, 2020 Also, to be honest, DCS shines best in the simulation of systems, not in the seat-of-the-pants flying, at least in my opinion.
Rudel_chw Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Would require a dedicated map , and at least some assets . . Agree on the assets, but Normandy seems fine to me, even if not historically correct: :) For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

reece146 Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 The lack of those elements really doesn't bother me. Would they be nice to have? Of course! Comments on flight models... verification... Between CFD, research for applicable anecdotes, and educated guess "fudge factors" I'm sure that it could be gotten close enough that it doesn't matter. It's not like we are using 6 DOF sim pits - there's not a huge amount of fidelity at the man/machine interface on a consumer grade, PC sim anyway. The best we get is "plausible" hand-eye coordination feedback loops. Anyway, it'd be a a rush to fly these planes. If there are any people with "private" mods lurking out there that would like a technical, open minded person to help them test and improve WWI or WWII mods I'm your guy. :)
