Flying the Christen Eagle II around Normandy made me think of WWI planes

I definitely support there being some WWI airplanes in DCS because it would be very fun and popular. But as is Eagle dynamics has their hands full for quite some time. So It would have to be up to a new 3rd party that has the passion for the WWI era to make it happen in a reasonable amount of time.

There were several Mods for ww1 aircrafts, but the DCS evolution left them behind :(

Would require a dedicated map , and at least some assets . Flight models would be problematic as well . Not many original WW1 aircraft flying , particularly with period engines .

Agree on the assets, but Normandy seems fine to me, even if not historically correct:

The lack of those elements really doesn't bother me.

Would they be nice to have? Of course!

Comments on flight models... verification...

Between CFD, research for applicable anecdotes, and educated guess "fudge factors" I'm sure that it could be gotten close enough that it doesn't matter.

It's not like we are using 6 DOF sim pits - there's not a huge amount of fidelity at the man/machine interface on a consumer grade, PC sim anyway. The best we get is "plausible" hand-eye coordination feedback loops.

Anyway, it'd be a a rush to fly these planes. If there are any people with "private" mods lurking out there that would like a technical, open minded person to help them test and improve WWI or WWII mods I'm your guy. :)
