Razor18 Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Hi There, Carrier night lighting is very impressive, any chance to give light wands for the personel sometimes? Landing/taxi lights are never used at night, and without it, hand signals are barely visible. Thanks
Hawkeye_UK Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Already been announced indeed they showed some artwork of this very thing. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DCS & BMS F4E | F14B | AV-8B | F15E | F18C | F16C | F5E | F86 | A10C | JF17 | Viggen |M2000 | F1 | L-39 | C101 | Mig15 | Mig21 | Mig29 | SU27 | SU33 | F15C | AH64 | MI8 | Mi24 | Huey | KA50 | Gazelle | CH47 | OH58D | P47 | P51 | BF109 | FW190A/D | Spitfire | Mossie | CA | Persian Gulf | Nevada | Normandy | Channel | Syria | South Atlantic | Sinai | Kola | Afgan | Iraq Liquid Cooled ROG 690 13700K @ 5.9Ghz | RTX3090 FTW Ultra | 64GB DDR4 3600 MHz | 2x2TB SSD m2 Samsung 980/990 | Pimax Crystal/Reverb G2 | MFG Crosswinds | Virpil T50/CM3 | Winwing & Cougar MFD's | Buddyfox UFC | Winwing TOP & CP | Jetseat
Jcbrotastic Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 My question falls in line with night lighting as well. Anyone see anywhere if it’s possible to adjust the ships lighting? From the night ops videos that I’ve seen the decks are very brightly lit, but during actual combat flight ops that wouldn’t be the case. So just curious if that is something that could be adjusted.
Jafergon Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 Already been announced indeed they showed some artwork of this very thing. I missed that artwork, Can you please post a link? thanks!! BTW I love the night lighting. I've noticed in the Grim Reapers video, they even have made the lighting dynamic, so that in launch ops is different than for recoveries and after all flght ops are finished the deck goes dark. Nice attention to details! Once the airboss station is available users will be able to control the lights as well.

I hope it's adjustable. I want that thing lit up like a Christmas tree. I want to see it from 20 miles away, my beacon of hope on a dark roiling sea as I head in on fumes. Some of the planes, but all of the maps!
Razor18 Posted May 16, 2020 Author Posted May 16, 2020 Which you will never have in real life. It is not a light tower, and for Case III, forget eyeballing anyway...
Jafergon Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 People tend to think that carrier decks are pitch black at night, while in reality, the orange floodlights are omnipresent during flight ops. In my opinion the current state of lightight in the SC preview videos is very realistic. However, in the future, when the Airboss station can be manned, it will be cool to control the lights manually.
Jafergon Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 This video also has also some great night ops footage. However, it seems that AI units engage landing lights on the deck. Currently, they never use it on the deck as in real life. I hope it was bug of the pre-release version and it gets fixed.

Well in my real world experience, carrier lighting during combat flight ops is at a minimal. Flight deck is extremely dark and not bright like in the video you’ve shown.
Jackjack171 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Really? I was a Flight deck Chief. The lights in the video are actually like that at night. There are variations depending on weather conditions/illumination, but that's it. DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. Real men don't cry!

There are variations depending on weather conditions/illumination, but that's it. Yeah. Been a H-60 crewman/SAR swimmer for 13 years now and for combat ops lights are pretty dim. Not saying they don’t turn lights up at times and that it isn’t bright sometimes, but whenever I’ve gone topside for a flight it’s been extremely dark.
Beetle Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Until the GC get "glowsticks", landing/taxi lights will be useful, or adjust your gamma until the night is day. VNAO, CVW-14, VFA-146.
Jackjack171 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Yeah. Been a H-60 crewman/SAR swimmer for 13 years now and for combat ops lights are pretty dim. Not saying they don’t turn lights up at times and that it isn’t bright sometimes, but whenever I’ve gone topside for a flight it’s been extremely dark. When the "fixed winged recovery complete" call came on at night after final, final; I remember the lights changed sometimes. You remember "deceptive lighting"? Especially in the Gulf! DO it or Don't, but don't cry about it. Real men don't cry!
