wizav Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 I have just noticed that 8 'C is the lowest temp in DCS.. what about -30 'C? Anti-Ice is basically useless cause there is no ICE. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I have, in an old Volkswagen, had to take a hammer and screwdriver to open the throat back up (manifold heat was clogged¬ working) you dont need to be colder than 8c in order to experience ice [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS: The most expensive free game you'll ever play Modules: All of them System: I9-9900k, ROG Maximus , 32gb ram, RTX2070 Founder's Edition, t16000,hotas, pedals & cougar MFD, HP Reverb 1.2, HTC VIVE
Eldur Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Temperature limits in DCS are absolutely pathetic. I can't set more than somewhere around 32°C in PG in the summer yet it's getting that hot already there even in winter IRL. But don't try to set even that... Hornet's max speed gets hammered down to almost subsonic.
Ourorborus Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Not sure if the sim accurately models temp gradients but anti icing is not normally based on surface temps. Basically, the air gets colder as you get higher. (at least in the troposphere where most aviation occurs) Preflight planning will identify what levels freezing is likely to occur. This is dependant on moisture temperature and aircraft specifics performance.
