ebabil Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 When I hit this button, I see a some kind of color palette. Can I revert to gray screen somehow? And also when I hit flir button at the left bottom, a button appears as "ALG" and when I hit this one, "L6 G3" appears next to zoom level. What is this? Greyman Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Added GRAY option Added ALG option (Automatic Gain and Level control option) the above is an excerpt from the patch notes. I don't have a clue what it does, but at least it looks like it was an intentional change. :)
Bunny Clark Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 ALG is Automatic Gain and Level control. Clicking it disables Auto mode and allows you to manually adjust the Gain and Level, the L and G numbers you see are the currently set values for Gain and Level. Oil In The Water Hornet Campaign. Bunny Clark Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Can I make green screen gray? The DDIs are 3-color CRT displays that can create green, yellow, and red. That's it. No white, no gray-scale. Harker Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Can I make green screen gray? No. The left and right DDIs can't output grayscale. GRAY simply shows a color scale that you use to manually adjust level and gain, so that you can clearly view the entire scale. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Gianky Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 The question remains, though, what is the gray button for?
Tholozor Posted May 20, 2020 Posted May 20, 2020 Harker already answered that, it's so that the pilot can manually adjust the gain and level controls so they can see the whole scale. If they're not set properly, different temperature ranges may appear the same where they should be different. Tholozor Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Yes, if you disable the Automatic Level/Gain option (ALG), the ZOOM OSB on the DDI can be cycled between ZOOM, GAIN, and LEVEL, with the values being displayed next to it.
