Why always flights are without weapons, sad. Plane another look with or with no weapons.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

I think this is the one which will actually be produced (if somenone oders it ;))

So what are the specs for this version? Or, for that matter, what were the specs of the old version? Was the old one just a relabeled Su-37?

good info and great pictures Kusch.

I think the old one(s) were just prototypes. About the Su-37; I think they were converted to Su-35s (prototypes)...

One thing about this one, it lacks a dorsal speedbrake. Instead it uses the same concept as Superhornet and F-22...

That was the Su-35's first flight? I thought the -35 had been around for while now, it was just that the VVS hadn't purchased any.

No, the one flying now is a totaly different aircraft, it just shares the same designation as the older Su-35, for reasons that just escape my grasp. Did they ran out of numbers?

Actually this particular Su-35 airframe was completed in August 2007 for static display at MAKS 2007. It never actually flew, 'til now.

All prior Super Flanker versions were built as testbeds for new avionics and thrust vectoring engines but this one is entering serial production in 2009.

I won't bother mentioning that China is interested in the type, but offered contract doesn't allow any licensing.

Russians are pissed off that china has now started to build copied Lyulka engines of their own but under a chinese designation.

Su-35 will probably never wear chinese markings. Its very difficult that the 35 will be sold in large numbers for the reason that Russia Itself has a very low factory output capability. And the only other big flanker manufacturer, india, already has the MKI.

All the latest Mig and flanker sales are actualy old airframes with upgrades. They are all suffering from low mission avaiability rates.

MKI was made in india in the most part. The initital Su-30MK's in the contract were made in Russia, and they were returned because part of them were old airframes and had problems. This hapened because there were delays in the deliveries so, used airframes were brought from storage to speed it up.

F-16AM (wich are converted to block 50 standard) are old airframes with upgrades, block 50/52/60 were all new airframes. US has stoped to procure F-16's. They are now only sold for export.

The F-16 has production lines both in US and Europe.

Danish, dutch and norwegian MLU's are all 30 years old block 10/20's. Portugals Peace atlantis block 15 aircraft from 1994 were in fact built in block 50 structural cells. Peace AtlantisII aircraft are all original block 15 OCU structural cells from AMARC depot. They are different. After MLU they will all share the same capabilities though.

The main difference between MLU and block 50 is engine PW220E's as aposed to 229's (2 extra tons of thrust). And APG-66V2A as oposed to APG-68V9 (25% more range) and APG-80 AESA (for block 60).

I believe in Asia as well, isn't South Korea producing their F-16's on it's own? Sorry for the OT.

Hi!

To avoid confusions, this is now called Su-35BM, and its far more advanced than it was. 21kW high performance man.steered-PESA combo radar (Irbis-E) with 240° FOV (yes, two-four-zero) and latest IRST (OLS-35; 180°FOV) and with glass cockpit, and other funny things. It is sad it can detect "stealth" airframe up to 40kms range (be my guest) and has some RCS downgrade. New, AL-31F based, "117S" engine, heavier than the original ones, and have 4000 flight hours. The aircraft has 11,5 max fuel capability, and can reach 3600kms.
