Kusch Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Su-35 first flight February 18 2008, pilot is Sergey Bogdan; 1 Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!
p_o_d_2_2 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 That was the Su-35's first flight? I thought the -35 had been around for while now, it was just that the VVS hadn't purchased any.
X-man Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I think this is the one which will actually be produced (if somenone oders it ;)) 64th Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 135.181.115.54
Boberro Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 Why always flights are without weapons, sad. Plane another look with or with no weapons. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ

p_o_d_2_2 Posted February 20, 2008 Posted February 20, 2008 I think this is the one which will actually be produced (if somenone oders it ;)) So what are the specs for this version? Or, for that matter, what were the specs of the old version? Was the old one just a relabeled Su-37?

I think the old one(s) were just prototypes. About the Su-37; I think they were converted to Su-35s (prototypes)... One thing about this one, it lacks a dorsal speedbrake. Instead it uses the same concept as Superhornet and F-22... 64th Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 135.181.115.54

No, the one flying now is a totaly different aircraft, it just shares the same designation as the older Su-35, for reasons that just escape my grasp. Did they ran out of numbers? .

If you have any more please most  Rep inbound. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Vekkinho Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Actually this particular Su-35 airframe was completed in August 2007 for static display at MAKS 2007. It never actually flew, 'til now. All prior Super Flanker versions were built as testbeds for new avionics and thrust vectoring engines but this one is entering serial production in 2009. I won't bother mentioning that China is interested in the type, but offered contract doesn't allow any licensing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pilotasso Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Russians are pissed off that china has now started to build copied Lyulka engines of their own but under a chinese designation. Su-35 will probably never wear chinese markings. Its very difficult that the 35 will be sold in large numbers for the reason that Russia Itself has a very low factory output capability. And the only other big flanker manufacturer, india, already has the MKI. All the latest Mig and flanker sales are actualy old airframes with upgrades. They are all suffering from low mission avaiability rates. .

Teknetinium Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 very low factory output capability. ,,, Pilotass where didt U get that from ? If u have the money I bet u can get then in time ;) as MKI did. 51st PVO Discord SATAC YouTube
Pilotasso Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 MKI was made in india in the most part. The initital Su-30MK's in the contract were made in Russia, and they were returned because part of them were old airframes and had problems. This hapened because there were delays in the deliveries so, used airframes were brought from storage to speed it up. http://www.areamilitar.net/noticias/noticias.aspx?nrnot=510 use a translator because its in Portuguese. ANd I have been reading this kinda stuff for years. Its not a novelty. .
Teknetinium Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 F-16 block 50/52/60 are they completely new airframes or are they upgraded from F-16c? 51st PVO Discord SATAC YouTube
Pilotasso Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 F-16AM (wich are converted to block 50 standard) are old airframes with upgrades, block 50/52/60 were all new airframes. US has stoped to procure F-16's. They are now only sold for export. The F-16 has production lines both in US and Europe. Danish, dutch and norwegian MLU's are all 30 years old block 10/20's. Portugals Peace atlantis block 15 aircraft from 1994 were in fact built in block 50 structural cells. Peace AtlantisII aircraft are all original block 15 OCU structural cells from AMARC depot. They are different. After MLU they will all share the same capabilities though. The main difference between MLU and block 50 is engine PW220E's as aposed to 229's (2 extra tons of thrust). And APG-66V2A as oposed to APG-68V9 (25% more range) and APG-80 AESA (for block 60). .
RvETito Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 I believe in Asia as well, isn't South Korea producing their F-16's on it's own? Sorry for the OT. "See, to me that's a stupid instrument. It tells what your angle of attack is. If you don't know you shouldn't be flying." - Chuck Yeager, from the back seat of F-15D at age 89. =RvE=
Pilotasso Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Yes, south Korea also makes them, forgot that one. Japan makes the F-2 in partnership with lockheed wich supplies some airframe parts. .
59th_LeFty Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 Hi! To avoid confusions, this is now called Su-35BM, and its far more advanced than it was. 21kW high performance man.steered-PESA combo radar (Irbis-E) with 240° FOV (yes, two-four-zero) and latest IRST (OLS-35; 180°FOV) and with glass cockpit, and other funny things. It is sad it can detect "stealth" airframe up to 40kms range (be my guest) and has some RCS downgrade. New, AL-31F based, "117S" engine, heavier than the original ones, and have 4000 flight hours. The aircraft has 11,5 max fuel capability, and can reach 3600kms. [sIGPIC]http://www.forum.lockon.ru/signaturepics/sigpic5279_1.gif[/sIGPIC] I could shot down a Kitchen :smartass:
p_o_d_2_2 Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 So the new one still doesn't have AESA? Do any Russia planes have AESA?
ED Team Groove Posted March 1, 2008 ED Team Posted March 1, 2008 Russians dont have the manufacturing knowledge / capabilities to produce the AESA modules. Well, the Eurofighter consortium dont have it too yet :D. Afaik russian AESA modules are bought from france. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
