I saw Producer´s Note Video 3, and i´m a bit precupated because the Ka-50 is awesome, but we need also good graphics to get total inmersion on flight.

 

My preocupation is that i see the same graphics since LOMAC in 2003 but in 2008, i don´t see much improvement

I hope this is just another Beta, and the big improvement is coming...

New engine will come in next DCS mods. Right now You'll get much more detailed airbase, new 3d models for aircrafts and building, new textures for grass, concrete, etc. Terrain mesh is also more detailed. Keep in mind that DCS will be in DirectX9 - not as previous dx8.

Aye - gonna be a wee while yet, although personally, Comparing LockOn to other Jet Sims out there, lockOn is the Prettiest by Far so we do not have really much to complain about :)

One don't need those to get Battle of Britain 2 graphics. Or Il-2 fog for example which shows that in this particular area LO 3D engine is just crippled.

 

I agree there's no point in working on it now when the next part of DCS is on the horizon (2 years max?) but just don't cover it's virtues (even for an outdated piece of code) and don't say it's still the prettiest.

 

I still hope for OpenGL and Linux support BTW.

Lock on looks pretty but when we compare its graphics to hardware requirements we see that engine is bad. Very. What for today we can play smooth if when it was produced we couldn't play good...

Aye - cannot argue there as I honestly have no idea what MSFS X has to offer......Now if you told me that I could strap a Vikhr Pod to any of those planes then I might be tempted!

BoB2 also comes with autstanding flight and damage model.

 

Now you see why not many claim that LO is the prettiest. I think it's enough but you might also want to check the Il-2 1946 (?).

 

And let me show you what can be done using just DX7 with 2 (?) times less demandings on GPU power.

I presented existing, more-than-one-fps sims :)

 

Mil sims' graphics are worse indeed. But lets not search for excuses - there are guys out there who made it as presented.

 

For me it's EOT. Maybe except the fog.. Anyway, ED have it's chance with the next (after BS) release.

You guys expect too much for what can be done with even the fastest vid cards out there. And im speaking generally about flight sim engine, not a particular one.

I understand what you would like to say us but I aslo think engine could be better optimized... Various games have better and worse engine, ones are faster and even looks better, anothers are worse and look worse. I only meant that. Example it is not normal when I press flare button FPS slows down much even now (remember it is only one flare ;))

 

@Viper - graphically FSX destroys FC, I didn't think about what games offer. FSX and FC are flight games.

I was refering strictly to 159th_Viper's post. I showed similar or lower altitudes shots. IIRC BoB2 has something to show at low altitude though.

I dont know about your vidcard Boberro, but i have no problems with flares. Im using a 8800 GTX.

 

As for engine optimzation - yes, every engine should be more optimized :D
