Yep. Same here. Unless you pitch hard in the opposite direction in order to slow your momentum just before touching down.

Yes...yes it will, and you sometimes won't have enough cyclic authority to avoid blade-ground interaction.

Well, in that case there is a good chance that the chopper flips over at worse or your rotor tips hit the ground at best, depending on the speed and the "oblique" angle.

Well obviously the reaction depends on the speed of oblique movement - moving sideways in a hover at 1m/s and then dropping it down, isn't exactly landing obliquely.

OK , but how do you land it sideways , I have to do rolling landings so far...

Lateral stress on the landing gear is not good. If you find yourself coming in with a lot of sideways then either correct that with cyclic or turn towards it so the wheels roll with it. Landing sideways on a boat is about a lateral movement to be over the boat then match it's speed. Then once you are there down you go. But make sure the wheel brake is on. Nothing worse than rolling into the superstructure or worse into the sea.

If you're approaching a landing point at a "high" or higher speed than what is recommended, you could then do that and as you might say, oblique approach, to quickly bleed the helicopter's speed. If executed well you end up hovering right above the landing point while simultaneously descending/landing carefully. If only I could find that one video of a real Mi-8 on youtube to show you exactly what I mean. That video by the way inspired me to practice a lot and get it done like that. And it's very useful in combat or when approaching a hot zone where you need to land quickly and deliver troops. However, in that real video I'm talking about, the pilot did that maneuver while approaching a helipad at some airbase and was not in a hot zone.

Once I've become good at it, it's now my most implemented method for a landing approach. But it's still hard to do and risky nonetheless and I do end up missing the landing zone once in a while.

 

I'll search again for that video...

Found it. At 01:23:50 the Mi-8 approaches the helipad.

Возможно не совсем к месту,но хотел сказать о реализации гашения скорости и посадки для Ми-8 в DCS....пересмотрел море роликов, сам летал не однократно (пассажиром) разговаривал с пилотами. .. Нет такой тряски а тем более звука при заходе на посадку у Ми-8!... Да,не значительная вибрация есть и звук лопастей как будто звук воспроизводят задом наперед..."лопот" в остальном всё стабильно. В DCS же бедный вертолёт всего колбасит, звук и поведение такое ,как будто по крайней мере пару лопастей несущего винта отвалились или сломались...Хотелось бы что бы разработчики обратили своё внимание на этот аспект и поправили сие безобразие! Получается, что любой заход на посадку на Ми-8 сводится к борьбе пилота с вертолетом. Плюс звук отвалившейся жестянки...я думаю это исправление не займёт много времени и в дальнейшем не будет отпугивать людей желающих приобрести модуль Ми-8. Спасибо.

А ничего, что этот эффект принимали как летавшие пилоты Ми-8. так и сейчас летающие?

711 попробуй в районе смены обдувки гасить скорость плавнее и не сыпаться по высоте.
