SCPanda Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 Exactly. It is inconsisitent at the moment. I did manage to drop some LGB fine. But Like I said before, I was point tracking a highway but the CCRP on my hud is aiming at steerpoint 1.
CrypticVillain Posted August 20, 2020 Posted August 20, 2020 TMS AFT is cursor zero thanks IS it possible to bore sight the tgp at all? If not will there be?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted August 20, 2020 ED Team Posted August 20, 2020 It's inconsistent. Sometimes it works exactly as expected and you can move the hud cursor and the tgp moves with it. Other times, hud cursor doesn't move. Others, you can move both, but they aren't slaved. I did it over and over again with the exact same steps and got different behavior, seemingly at random. There should be some method to target within the hud fov, like the old boresight. The current SP, being fixed a specific distance, no matter the roll or pitch of the jet, is virtually useless unless you align your nose, set it, then slew the pod upwards. That's needlessly cumbersome compared to how the Lightening pod works on every other aircraft. Additionally, if you change the steerpoint, that location you just worked to find is GONE. Unless you WRITE down the coordinates shown on the tgp display and make a new steerpoint with them, there is no way to go back to that location again. Lat/Long on the display and TTI is nice and all, but the new pod, unless used on a nice fixed steerpoint against stationary targets, is absolute garbage compared to yesterday. That doesn't even touch the issues with adding in the visual changes without giving tuning capabilities to actually have things stand out from the surroundings. Horrible choices on implementation. Hi we can not reproduce this. If you have a short track showing it happen please make a new thread and attach it. SP mode works just like it is supposed to and is exactly why none of our SME pilots would use it. thank you Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Rhavyn - "some method to target within the HUD FOV" AND "if you change the steerpoint that location you just worked to find is gone"............ on the first count I concur, now hoping that TMS AFT will center in HUD, then by making HUD SOI you can designate with TMS FWD. Hoping. ONE thing that's helping as I try to revive F-16 skill is that USAF conventions are similar across A-10C, Apache, and F-16C. I tweak controls that are common to all. But the jump when changing steerpoint and not being able to retrieve LAST designated point if you want it are awfully frustrating..

Well, you sort of can „save“ the last position, but it requires some thinking ahead. The pod saves the slew delta until you CZ. So if you swap steerpoint and dont CZ, you can switch back and since the delta was saved, should be able to resume where you left it before swapping Stpt. You can also use sighting options OA1 and OA2 before ANY slewing, so it‘ll save the offset aimpoints for that related steerpoint. Or you could use markpoints for quick saving a spot. Just keep in mind, the max is 5 and it‘ll overwrite the first markpoint if you create a „6th“ one.
