Jalava Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Running latest DCS openbeta 2.5.6.54046 I was doing night tanking of KC-135 MPRS and noticed that the tiny light in the probe will light up the whole plane brighter than sun ever will, not just the drogue. This also happens when AI does tanking. Gamma 1.8
Swift. Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Thats an S-3, there is coincidentally a bug people have seen where it doesnt like up the 135 at all. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2
Jalava Posted August 27, 2020 Author Posted August 27, 2020 Ah, so it clearly is. It was Texaco in mission so my brain thought it was KC for some reason.
Oozler Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 I am always baffled by the posts that show a picture where a light from the refueling probe is so bright because I have never experienced any lights from any probes refueling an F-18 at night from ANY tanker in the game. Oozler is bamboozled :-p

Oozler is bamboozled :-p Same here. In the most recent OB I don't see any prob light on Viking as before. I'm thinking it's my old mission where I changed time to fly at night. Maybe I should re-save it in ME or even create new? Burner1111 Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 Same issue here, no prob lights anymore. All lights are switched on. Tried S3 and KC-130. Jalava Posted August 27, 2020 Author Posted August 27, 2020 Ah, this must be a scripted feature in Raven One campaign and they add some lights in there to make refueling possible during night, made a quick mission myself and just could not get any illumination from probe.
Nealius Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Probe light works fine for me from cold start, but all the Hornet's interior/exterior lights are porked and look hideous now.
Stearmandriver Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 I made a bunch of my own test missions when I switched to DCS, and when refueling the Hornet at night from the S-3, I always had a probe light if I did a cold start (and actually I started cold but used the auto-start to save time and it still worked). Light was intermittent if I did a hot start. Haven't tried since the update, but the probe light was always asininely bright for me.
MagicSlave Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 +1 F/A-18C refueling probe light is blindingly bright for me too. I fly in VR (Oculus Rift CV1). Happens with S-3B Viking, haven't tested night refueling with a KC-135.
Muas Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 +1 F/A-18C probe light is way too bright, apart from the fact that for player/client it only works when starting from 'cold start'. For the AI's however, it works even from an air spawn, but the brightness looks indeed exaggerated. Attached testing mission (click download link below) showing how the KC-130 get all bright white from underneath when two AI Hornets are refueling. Not very realistic looking as it seems.
