I was so excited to finally have rockets on this bird, thank you to the Devs.

I know I'm probably missing something and I'll feel like a dummy

when I find out, but I have mapped buttons to fire single,

fire dual, flipped every switch including the safety and nothing happens.

It's hard to see, but down low there is a lever to select alternate/dual.

That doesn't do anything either.

What am I doing wrong?????

Question Ray -

Did you find updated information in this regard?

The manual at the support DCS site is only for the -30

I spent an hour last night searching through functions and actions to map to my HOTAS, think I am close, but still no cigar.

Is there another reference for new mappings for controls that is about somewhere??

Just tried this out and they fire just fine for me, I'm no expert but it seems that in the -40 you fire them with the regular "bomb release" switch after setting the switches on the lower left panel to "READY" and "rockets", lower center on "single".

Bombs have to be armed with the handles to your back left floor as well as the switches... I think

Did you find a reference for mappings in Controls option menus? I am unsure which switch is for Bombs vs. Rockets release, and the toggle cover and switch for "Ready"

Thanks!

Been there, done that, however, on one mission they worked for one rack,

and then they stopped. (I made a target practice mission with unlimited ammo on)

I dropped some bombs and then flipped the switch to rockets.

I fired 10 HVAR's, reloaded and then nothing. F2 shows them on the wing, but they won't fire.

Maybe a bug????

Did you return rocket counter to first number (rocket)?

"Rocket option" is only for D-40 and you must do it by yourself in ME, it is not prepared.

Rocket firing when you also have or had bombs on the aircraft is pretty buggy. I had to flip the rocket/bombs selector switch several times to get rockets to fire after dropping bombs.

This bug is pretty common in other modules as well.

IDK about that. I use rockets on the Mustang, Sabre and Huey all the time.

This is the first module that I have had trouble with.

To Smirking Gerbil: There is no manual for the D-40. The D-30 manual mentions

rockets on page 46, but offers no details.

I try not to use too many button or keyboard mappings. (I'm old and have a bad memory :D)

I find it more immersive to click on the buttons and switches in the cockpit.

There are separate mappings for dropping bombs and firing rockets.

I mapped separate buttons for each on my HOTAS. There are keyboard mappings.

To Rover: I loaded both bombs and rockets and I tried every combination I could think of.

The "drop bomb" button didn't work for me and yes I flipped the switch to the rocket position.

Bombs are working perfectly. It's only the rockets that are borked.

To Saburo_cz: I didn't know you had to do that, I'll try it next time.

Thanks everybody for your input. I don't feel like a dummy just yet.

Let's keep the conversation going until I do. :music_whistling:

Ray -

Thanks for letting me know, it is helpful! At least I know I am not missing anything. Much appreciated.

Resorted to mouse clicks, and rockets working for the limited things I am doing. I set that rotary switch to "single", pop the toggle for "Ready" to arm everything, and leave the mode switch to "Rockets" - works as I would expect it to.

If I mix a load of munitions, so far I will drop bombs after I shoot rockets, but will then take the time to twist the arming knobs rear of the seat port side, and they drop from the rails and boom as expected.

Hi rayrayblues,

Try this it might help. Cheers.

Very! I will check, but I did not flip the chemical switches as you did, and the rockets fired properly. I did do everything else you showed in regards to rockets and bombs panel wise.

I will check again in the -40, but I did several rocket runs last night using your procedure sans the chemical switch part. FYI

In either case, if he uses Open Beta, it must've not updated correctly, as new variants should be visible in drop down menus both in quick and full mission editor.

It might be to do with the date in the mission editor. Try making the mission date later (or find the option that lets you use aircraft from any era).

I did try as late as from 1943 to 1946 and different tasks but nothing changes. The update was running without any problem and repair did not help aider...

Another idea.... in the mission editor, at the bottom of the screen, there is a "watch" button (mouse hover = "Historical List of Units"). It's on the bottom task bar, just to the right of where it says "MAP / SAT / ALT" and the little "tank" icon. Make sure this watch-icon is NOT checked. It should be dark.

Thank you all for your input, I've got it all sorted out.

The reason you can't fire rockets after reloading is because of the counter.

There are only 10 rockets (HVAR), but the counter goes to 24.

You must reset the counter to 1 after reloading otherwise you have to

push the "weapons release" button 14 times to fire the next rocket.

Special thanks to Saburo_cz for pointing me in the right direction.

The counter on the Mustang goes to 10 and then automatically

resets itself to 1. The T-Bolt doesn't reset until you reach 24.

I made a short video to demonstrate.

enjoy.

I also made a bug report.
