531-Ghost Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Just doing some market research here and would appreciate your vote. You can vote: HERE Thank you for your participation. :) :joystick:
Longbow Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 I would, but I'm not making an account just to vote. [ Stick: HOTAS Cougar ] [ HT: TrackIR4 ]
Vekkinho Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 For a fixed wing aircraft I bought TM Cougar, it was pretty expensive but does the great job in controlling airplanes. It's particulary good for controling single engine fighters like F-16 but it there was a similar 2 engine throttle I'd buy it too. I found a great site featuring split throttles: http://hirevsims.com/ I'm thinking of helos lately, preparing for BS and I still haven't found any decent controller that features cyclic except thi one: http://hirevsims.com/01prod/fltcontrl/uh6001.jpg It's a Black Hawk replica. I hate modifing my HOTAS to customize it for use with helos, I'd be glad to see and buy something made to control a chopper in price range of a Cougar! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

There have been many who have tried to approach them about making equipment for the commercial market, i.e. the flight sim players. They are never interested. People have approached them with several thousand dollars and a genuine desire to pay that much for their controllers only to be inexplicably turned down. Plus, I've heard of those in the know who have used their products in the military and aerospace industry have shared that the products aren't so hot. IIRC, some of their products are just modified Cougars.
Vekkinho Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Yeah that's exactly what I was afraid of. Looks like there's no controller for BS nor any other Helo sim that features collective cyclic to make max out of your sim. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
leafer Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 http://aviationsimulationgroup.com/default.aspx The above company is still expensive, but not as expensive as Hirevsim and they replied to my inquiry while Hirevsim didn't even bother. I'm guessing anything that doesn't resemble military contract goes straight to spam. lol Anyway, "aviationsimulationgroup" has a less expensive line of F-18 grips which are made from urethane. I asked if they would sell me just the shell and was told that if they have one with imperfections then they would, but I never got back to them. Ghost, I'd gladly buy CH products if they would just come out with a new line of military hotas; the current ones just don't do it for me - especially the very ugly looking throttle. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
TorwaK Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 It's about how much you're ambitious about your hobbie. Somebody spends over $20.000, somebody else don't pay even $10 :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Intel Core i7-6700K, @5GHz | Asus Maximus Hero VIII | 2 x eVGA GTX 970 SLI | Kingston Predator 16GB DDR4-3000Mhz | 2 x Samsung 850 PRO 240GB RAID-0 | AOC G2460PG G-SYNC LCD | OCULUS RIFT CV1 VR | THRUSTMASTER HOTAS WARTHOG | CH PRO PEDALS
bnepethomas Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I've scored pedals, collective, and cyclic from these guys. Real nice kit, only downer is a lack of buttons on collective. http://www.flightlink.com/ http://www.flightlink.com/hardware/rotorwing/seat.html

thereminqblank Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Well, go cast your vote! Done and done. An F-18 stick and split throttle sure does sound sweet. "Unholy Roller" [sIGPIC]http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/images/userbars/A-10C_UserBar_01.gif[/sIGPIC]
531-Ghost Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 Thank you thereminqblank! And, I agree they do sound very saweeeeet! :joystick:
leafer Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Done. twice... j/k :D ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P

SUBS17 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Hornet Hotas yes question though is the stick floor mounted or is it a desktop type setup? [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
leafer Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Hornet Hotas yes question though is the stick floor mounted or is it a desktop type setup? If they make them, we'll find a way to floor mount the sucka. You can count on that - screw the warranty. :D Now, back to reality. I can't help but wonder if this poll is purely PR. Really, how many people voted? 100 or so? That's not even enough people to open a hot dog stand. I hope I'm wrong. Scratch that. I pray that I am wrong and they really are moving away from that funky looking throttle and ergonomically challenged stick. Polls are for politicians... ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
531-Ghost Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 Polls are for politicians... And dancers! ;) :megalol: :joystick:

I pray that I am wrong and they really are moving away from that funky looking throttle and ergonomically challenged stick. Polls are for politicians... That is true, but you have to think about 2 problems here: 1. CH-Hangar is not an official Website from CH. It evolved from a private website to what it is, now. In the meanwhile at least there is a link to that site, if you know where to look. But if you really have a problem with your stick, you rather mail CH rather than looking for a source to help you out on a product that expensive. 2. As you can also read on this forum: IF people find CH-Hangar, it doesn't mean they'll register right away. As with all forums, the ones posting or in this case voting, are only a small percentage of the actual people visiting the place. So you really have to look at percentages for the voting, not pure numbers. So you really have to look at percentages for the voting, not pure numbers. I understand that, and that is why I think this poll and their last one are purely PR. Why now? Didn't someone at CH, at some point, said that it'd cost too much to develop completely new, high-end stick and throttle? Hey, if you guys from CH are going to do it then just do it. I'm sure there are more effective ways to research the market that'd yield trustworthy result than posting a silly poll on a website and hope the news spread. Take a look at Debby's post. "It's wishing time again." with a wink and a tongue sticking out...yeah...that's why I didn't vote the first time I saw it. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
531-Ghost Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 Then don't vote leafer. Nobody is twisting your arm. Thanks for the input though. It's really appreciated. Afterall... :music_whistling: :joystick:

I wonder: Where would you do your research for a new joystick-product, other than a forum for hardcore-gamers who do everything to get the max out of your products? Wishing time? Sure, nobody promises this product will hit the market in the next 2 months, but on the other hand we had similar requests on the Saitek-Forum not long ago and as it was "wished" for, they came up with the throttle quadrant shortly after. And they didn't have that many votes either. Either way, I doubt it would hurt anybody to post a vote IMHO. razgriz33 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 (my first post) well, id like to comment on the hardest thing to find....... you can get joysticks easy these days, this is for people like me, serious simmers but with a medium/low budget (why would i install a cockpit in my house?). so anyway the hardest thing to find are rudder pedals, i love my joystick that i fly lomac with now. rudder pedals are just really hard to find on their own One way around having no rudder pedals or a low budget is to buy..... a wired xbox 360 controller, works for dangerous waters some, xbox titles (im a closed beta tester on battlefield bad company) ive yet to try it on the very crude and arcadic battlefield series, quite hard to get to grips with at first but when you get comfy, it can be really good.... Anyway thats just for anybody who is thinking... holy hell im gonna have to buy a whole cockpit or something. oh yeah and just for the record im not "dissing" the people who do that, its a hobby :smilewink: cheers guys =)
531-Ghost Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 DOH! Okay leafer, ya got me :smilewink: Image edited to protect the innocent... :joystick:
leafer Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Pwned what? Look at the post where I said voted twice, after 531-Ghost said "well, go cast you vote", with a smilie. And I said in my last post that I didn't vote the first time I saw it, I didn't say I didn't vote at all. Relax, Ghost. I'd love to see it but I don't think it's happening. Of course, you can shut me the hell up and release a prototype or something. Edit: Just saw the post above. See what I'm saying about a prototype? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
