Wow, Barhek, this is outstanding! 😍

This is exactly what we’ve been asking Ugra media for and how this map should have looked all along!

Those of us who live in the British or French countryside only have to look out our window to know there was something horribly wrong with the Normandy Map color pallet as it was.

Not only does the map feel how it should, adding to the immersion, but the amazing work and details Urgra Media put into this map really pop and stand out.

Thank you  🙏

I certainly appreciate all the hard work invested in this latest mod, and I'm very thankful the author is sharing with the community. However, the landscape in the above YT vid is way too vivid to my personal liking. It simply does not remind me of summertime in Normandy or Sussex.

Lush paddy fields in Bali and Thai pristine beaches ? Yes 😅

Maybe PJ Pants uses specific settings to brighten up the sim or, alternatively, you can simply call me a spoilt brat !

Having said that, I will most certainly download the mod at a later date. The Caucasus mod has proven Barthek is always aiming for top-notch work.

This time around, it is a little too early for me.

Cheers,

Slug

Yup, either PJ uses some wildly off-the-scale Reshade settings, or Spring season (not modded) in this video. Updated screens in the 1st post show how the Summer textures actually look like now.

After a short test flight yesterday I like where this is going. Maybe the trees could be somewhat darker, as they were in N1944 edition of the mod, but given the tech limitations Barthek is facing, we already have a noticeable overall improvement.

It is doable to adjust this to personal preference, by tweaking the gamma of trees in the accompanied .lua file.

Hi @Barthek

till no Spring textures, can you add Spring from the map of Normandy'2 as your Summer textures too (temporarily, until you do not make spring, which will not be much different from summer anyway)?

Unfortunately, almost 90% of single player missions and all campaigns take place during ... D-Day, so it's still Spring. This means that basically your textures are present only in ME Summer and possibly if someone will set up a multiplayer server in summer period. It would be nice to have such a request and will see it in Spring especially. I'm flying the Reflected campaign right now and unfortunately I still only have the spring season. Thank you!

btw. it's worth in the first post to put in bigger letters that it's summer now 🙂. I already had an inquiry from a friend who installed the textures set that he did not see the differences, and it turned out that he did not set summer at his place. 😄

This movie has nothing to do with reality. 😄 It's even hard for me to judge whether it's the default or actually a mod. I don't think he should color in post-production films like that, it hurts the eyes.

Ths is example from my VR (8 o'clock July):

Well, I don't use any Reshade, or re-colour of anything. Must be Meta. 🙂

I need to check the month of the mission, if June was still spring then may be I make another in August then.

BTW, it is okay to call me out and suggest what could be done better. I am old enough to take that.

D-day is in June. June uses summer textures.

D-Day was 6.06.44 and Summer begins 21.06.xx, you got the seasons wrong.

However, I checked now, I guess I have too high expectations from DCS 😅, it's not FSX / P3D when we ideally have texture changes (and dynamic).

6th June looks like summer, so according DCS the Spring ends with May. Nevertheless, the difference is still strange.

I guess what you say, good person, applies to all map makers...

BTW, the raw version of my video. Straight copy out from the Quest PRO headset. No cut, not processing, so you would see something funny.

And all WWII flyable planes in DCS make poor tourist plane, so I use OV-10A instead.

Thanks Bartek for your  hard work.

A tad dark still for me..at 2.2 gamma.

Could easily set it at 3.0 using your mod.

But wonderful nonetheless.

Tree billboards are reversed still though for me...showing their light side when looking into the sun.

My 2 cents

In my case, with the oculus rift, the colors are not so bright and saturated. It looks similar to the latest Barthek screenshots. What gamma are you using?

Yep - this is a killer for me too, on all maps.

The mod overall is excellent and I like all Barthek's work but I will have to customise the mod to my version of 'realism'.

Huge improvement all the same and many thanks to Barthek.

2.5 I may need to tone it down back to 2.2 or 2.0
