catchforusthefoxes Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I don't know if I have the right weather condition but no matter how hard I turn I can't seem to get vapor to come off the wings like in most f 14 vids. I only see this effect coming off of the center of the plane from the intake. is there something I'm missing?
shagrat Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 They are implemented since early, access release. Settings maybe set to low details? Lower QNH to have less air pressure, temperature lower and you should have enough "moisture" to provoke condensation vapor from the wings. You may try higher altitude and keep in mind it's mostly about AoA of the wing, and not necessarily speed alone... Skysurfer Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 They are a bit too "faint" in most cases and could need some improvement. Having a sonic shock/pressure cone effect would also be quite nice. 1

I did everything you said and still got the same results, all my settings are maxed, and tried it on all maps with the recommended weather conditions, and still no wing vapors. maybe I'm still missing something?

Also, I vaguely recall one of the devs mentioning a long, long time ago that the current vapor system can't handle variable sweep wings.
Steff Bourne Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 I think i´m missing something, we are talking about this one!? this is implemented?

shagrat Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 For me it looks like this (Caucasus Freeflight mission): Cockpit view: Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)

Nealius Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Vapor over the wing gloves is modeled. Vapor over the wings themselves is not. 2
Cobra847 Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 The vapour will be fully overhauled. We're just waiting for some functionality for the vapour location to be able to move with the wings. 4 Nicholas Dackard Founder & Lead Artist Heatblur Simulations https://www.facebook.com/heatblur/

WelshZeCorgi Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Yeah, vapor seems half-done due to limitations of the engine.
