thrustvector Posted December 31, 2020 Posted December 31, 2020 ok, made my first good carrier landing, but having probs with comms, following the normal comms on land i don't get an answer on the supercarrier. permission to start etc, so I do it any way and launch with np, but once in the air I have no option to open the comms menu? I feel it something I do wrong not a bug as when I do a landing mission, its all there. radio is left per start, and I hear wingman etc, this is on a normal cold dark launch mission, any help be appreciated
Mabuggi Posted January 1, 2021 Posted January 1, 2021 Hi mate, sounds like you need to tune one of your radios to the carriers frequency. You will always get comms on the runway / deck but will lose that as soon as you take off. Tune one of the radios to the carrier and you should be good. You can test it by pressing the corresponding radio button (not the generic comms button) and asking for start up etc. If this is one of your missions you've made, you can check / set the frequency of the carrier in the ME. If it's a dow loaded mission the frequencies are normally in the briefing.
thrustvector Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 thanks, i did think i set it as per mission breifing but maybe i did not, ill re check it
thrustvector Posted January 1, 2021 Author Posted January 1, 2021 i dunno must be doing something wrong, can someone do a carrier cold n dark qualification for me, just check, its says i believe as not on atm, 127.000, which is already on channel 1, but re entered any way, as soon as i take off i have no comm channel at all, still getting used to the old girl so prob me
pete_auau Posted January 2, 2021 Posted January 2, 2021 (edited) ok just tested the carrier take off in super carrier and the normal carrier, if you notice once you load it up you will see the freq for atc, if there is a freq there than you will have to set it to what ever number you like than it will work. But if there is no freq there , as in the normal carrier qual for take off, than you won't be able to communicate with atc Edited January 2, 2021 by pete_auau
thrustvector Posted January 2, 2021 Author Posted January 2, 2021 i just found out too what was wrong, it says comm 1 in the briefing and as i assumed that comm 1 and 2 work the same i set comm 1 to 127.500. no reply but if i set comm 2 to the freq it works, so small bug there in the briefing window or comms not working as should?

And since its only a take off qual mission and not a landing qual mission guess they decided you didnt need to talk with atc. But with the new sc qual missions etc they had written the atc freq in for landing
thrustvector Posted January 3, 2021 Author Posted January 3, 2021 forgot too say this is on the supercarrier, but i think the prob is that both radios are identical aren't they? so which ever one i added the frequency too should have worked? dunno for sure as just learning this bird thanks for input mate

CBStu Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 I have no idea what the \ key does. Do you not have a button on your throttle set to Comm1 and Comm2? I have a self centering button that a forward push goes to Comm1 and a backward pull goes to Comm2.
Razor18 Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 \ is the default key for the COMMS menu, that only works on the ground.

It also works as "regular" comms menu if Easy communications is ON. That is a major cause of comms problems - people play with easy comms on, then they run a mission with EC forced to off, or join a server with EC to off, and they don't know what to do. Easy comms setting is pure evil. 1
