The Hunter of course would be amazing, although it would be painful to see all the requests for a Swiss one so we can have another Maverick truck 😛

The Scimitar was a miserable piece of failed engineering, so I wouldn't be very interested in it to be honest. A better FAA early jet would be the Sea Hawk imo: it actually had a very long and distinguished career, it kind of sort of fits with both the Syria map (if you have a scenario in which the Suez Canal crisis escalates) and SoH (with the Indian Navy posturing against Pakistan?), and in Indian colors it has plenty of aircraft it fought with (the Mig-21bis plus the Hunter if it gets added) and against (Mig-19, F-86).

Used to love the Victors, looked like something out of the Flash Gordon film. 😁

If you are going for HMS Eagle (or Ark Royal), then surely you’d go go for the classic Phantom, Buccaneer, Gannet, Wessex / Sea King air package...?

It’s actually a pretty good shout as Razbam will have a bunch of era appropriate Royal Navy assets - County class destroyer, Type 42 destroyer, Leander (and Rothesay?) class frigates, Type 21 frigate, Round Table class landing ships and Opportune class submarine...

Yeah, personally I would've gone for a Phantom FG.1, Buccaneer S.2D, Sea King HAS.2 and Wessex HAS.1 on HMS Ark Royal circa 70s.

Personally, though, I'm much more interested in late 70s - late 80s stuff.

Totally agree with youNorthstar98  i prefer also 70's to late 80's, but about the Phantom i would prefer one of last versions.

And the Buccaneer would be just orgasmic to have it...

Good thing with the British Phantom variants, they had a fairly long service life.

The carrier capable F-4K Phantom FG.1 was with the FAA from late April 1968 - late November 1978, but was with the RAF from early September 1969 all the way to late January 1990.

The RAF F-4M Phantom FGR.2 was late August 1968 all the way to early November 1992; it also saw more use as a QRA interceptor, and had historical bases in central Germany, which would probably be the perfect map for it.

The Buccaneer S.2 also had a fairly long service life, at least for the RAF S.2B variant (which had the hump in its bomb-bay carrying extra fuel), which was in service from the 70s all the way up to mid-90s. The carrier capable S.2D however, wasn't quite as long-lasting, with squadrons being disbanded after the UK got rid of the only carriers that could take it in the late 70s.

Can anyone advise which UK F-4s went to the Falklands after the runway was lengthened??

ETA - ie Razbam’s gorgeous looking map would be a good steer to choosing a DCS Phantom 😉

I guess that’s the one we need then...!

I would agree, it is my favourite variant; but in its air defence role, we're missing suitable RADARs to provide GCI for it - the Falklands have at least 3 such stations (RRH Mount Alice, RRH Byron Heights and RRH Mount Kent) which I think used the Marconi S600 system

I like how a thread about early Cold War British jet instantly descended into another Phantom fest. I want that module as much as anyone, but stay on topic eh 😛
