Hoggorm Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Hello, I have these issues that I was hoping you could help me understand: 1 - When creating a custom waypoint. Is there a way to create this waypoint on the ground or do I have to go into the F10 map, find the location and extract the elevation from there? Inserting 0 ft/m will only set the waypoint below the surface if not at sea level. 2 - With the diamond in the FLIR on the right DDI and Maverick selected on the left DDI, pressing the FLIR FOV button changes the MAV FOV not the FLIR FOV (?). Why is this? Zoom is in the FLIR DDI though. 3 - I've never really seen IFF identify a hostile aircraft until I launch a missile at it. Friendlies seem to be identified correctly. Is this because a target not responding to IFF could be both hostile and civil/neutral? Then why is it classified as hostile a few sec after shooting at it? 4 - For some reason my radar elevation stops working from time to time. I'm sure there is a menu I get lost in, but when it happens I am unable to change the radar elevation. Any idea what I can do to get the function back? Thank you!

Why is this? Zoom is in the FLIR DDI though. That's the correct behaviour. MAV FOV has always priority, independent of the selected SOI. 1 hour ago, Hoggorm said: 1 - When creating a custom waypoint. AFAIK there's no other way than F10 map (or mission editor map) to determine the correct ground elevation. 1 hour ago, Hoggorm said: 3 - I've never really seen IFF identify a hostile aircraft until I launch a missile at it. You'll get a hostile trackfile classification when the following conditions are met: Quote A negative IFF response is returned, and either: An NCTR print returns with an aircraft type that is on the hostile coalition; or Its offboard/Datalink classification is hostile (SURV or F/F) Source: https://wiki.hoggitworld.com/view/F/A-18C#HAFU_Symbology 1 hour ago, Hoggorm said: 4 - For some reason my radar elevation stops working from time to time. Try to reproduce the issue and upload a track, so the developers can investigate if it's a bug or a user error. Hornet's radar is still WIP and sometimes buggy. Arikaj Posted March 21, 2021 Posted March 21, 2021 Regarding the 4th issue... Are you not in BIAS/AUTO mode of the radar? Sometimes I forget to change it to Manual and wonder why my elevation is not changing 1

I`m both in RWS and TWS manual while the elevation is stuck... 1
Tholozor Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 If the radar antenna elevation gets stuck, you can basically reset it by changing the selected air-to-air missile to another (even if the amount carried is 0) while the radar is performing a spotlight search (command STT on empty space). 1 1 REAPER 51 | Tholozor VFA-136 (c.2007): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305981/ Arleigh Burke Destroyer Pack (2020): https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313752/
Hoggorm Posted March 22, 2021 Author Posted March 22, 2021 Thank you Tholozor, I'll try that. Is this a bug? You say command a STT on empty space - how is this done? Can I not STT only on a target?

Jak525 Posted March 22, 2021 Posted March 22, 2021 Just fyi, the fact you can do that (command STT on empty space) is a bug too, and it's not a spotlight search. That's not yet implemented. A single TDC depress within a second should set the scan center, even in RWS. Holding TDC depress for more than 1 second would do a Spotlight search. 1 2
Tholozor Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 (edited) Thanks @Jak525, hopefully by the time the proper TDC Depress actions are implemented we won't have to worry about antenna elevation bugging out. Tholozor's trick fixes it. Edited March 24, 2021 by dorianR666 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X GPU: AMD RX 580
Hoggorm Posted March 25, 2021 Author Posted March 25, 2021 I had this issue again today and was not able to regain elevation control ofter doing a spotlight search. I tried to do this both in RWS and TWS without success...
Tholozor Posted March 25, 2021 Posted March 25, 2021 (edited) Make sure you're switching your selected A/A weapon while the search is happening, and it must be done in RWS. TDC Depress in TWS will set the BIAS scan center. 4thfg_Goose Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 I just start a channel on you tub not to long ago about how to do things in the F18-C and I thought you might found my video on how to change waypoint height useful. 2 No madder how bad it is, it could always be worse.
