There is probably no fix to this. Same as heatblur from engines breaking hud since beginning of DCS and powerlines not visible when cloud are present in the background. We have to just live with it.

I think this issue was only reported for VR, and the issue was eventually fixed for VR.

I'll make a video compilaton of the issue this weekend, then I'll report it.

There’s no way we can live with the shaking clouds in 2D. It’s so bad I fly with clear skies now, which is a massive shame because the clouds do look fantastic.

I’m sure it’s been reported a few times hasn’t it? Same with the shadows in the hills popping in and out whenever a cloud layer is present, causing really bad flashes and flickering.
Much appreciated though if you can report the issue again...thanks!

The jitter was addressed for VR but in VR there's still a massive shimmer on the edges, much more then can be fixed with Anti-Alliasing.

It sort of makes me sad to bring this up again ....

DCS 2.8 it is November 2022 and there is still no answer, no fix and not even a "Hey we got your back and try to investigate it".

The problem still is very present and makes the use of clouds almost obsolete, since it really kills the immersion. Yes the clouds looks nice, they move nicely but they are not contributing to the immersion when they wobble around all the time you look at them.

Could someone finally please get involved and give us anything?
Is it our systems? Or it DCS? Do we run wrong settings or not? And again we are NOT talking about VR we talking about 2D on a flat screen!

The issue seems to be less when you start to use SSAA (1.5 or 2.0). But that is for the most of us not an option since it drags the perfoamce down to an unplayable experience.

Best regards and please finally get involved!

I have reported the issue of the clouds swimming / shimmering during rolls.

Please not it is different from the initial report in this thread as that was addressed in a previous patch, so I will lock this thread so there is no confusion.

Please understand that to get good performance with the clouds we have to use an algorithm so it may need tweaking.

thank you
