sobek Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Hello! Attaching dead Shilka - Shark's 20-mm Gun rule for sure! In-game close up view shows pierced front armor - look at Shkval display center. I don't want to dissapoint you, but i don't think the damage model is that accurate. :music_whistling: Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Naval Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 I don't want to dissapoint you, but i don't think the damage model is that accurate. :music_whistling: Shilka has only 9-15mm armor and about 8 mm on turret. I think 10-20 rounds is enough :smilewink:
sobek Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Shilka has only 9-15mm armor and about 8 mm on turret. I think 10-20 rounds is enough :smilewink: I didn't mean that you cant penetrate a shilka with a 30mm cannon. .50 bmg might be enough for that. What i wanted to say is that it is unlikely that the damage model will show specific penetration points where you really hit the target, it's most likely a generic model, so where you hit the target won't have an effect at how it looks when it's destroyed. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
telepathiclove Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=32654 — 'Rare moments of the BS' tread. Those are some of the best shots I've seen of this game. Especially the second one (from left). The graphics look really great.
-Skipper- Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Looking forward to see how long it takes for me to get something burning myself, that was not originally a part of my helo. :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Namenlos Ein Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) In attempts to perform this I broke main rotors. Don't do it at home! Last thought of they both: 'WTH is that?!' 'Predator' as a prey. Edited October 22, 2008 by Namenlos Ein
Stalintc Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Funky, didnt realise you could end up breaking your own rotor blades! great stuff! Does it mention in the manual how best to fly the helo so this does not happen? Just curious... Nice screenshots by the way, the UAV facing off the SA-10 is quite hilarious!
sobek Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Funky, didnt realise you could end up breaking your own rotor blades! great stuff! Does it mention in the manual how best to fly the helo so this does not happen? The conditions under which blade intersection can occur are well known and will most likely be mentioned in the manual. One such condition would be severe overspeed, where the retreating blade of the upper rotor touches the advancing blade of the lower rotor due to flapping. Adding lots of rudder (don't know which direction) can worsen this. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Namenlos Ein Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Funky, didnt realise you could end up breaking your own rotor blades! great stuff! I just watched this track and fail to copy that maneuver (a somersault?). Need more practice indeed.
sobek Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 In attempts to perform this I broke main rotors. Don't do it at home! Did you end up in a negative g condition? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Stalintc Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Thanks Sobek, that helps me to understand at least why it happens!
Erpe Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 it's pretty easy to break your rotor blades. With normal speed, just give full rudder to left and put the joystick full right. Than don't forget to use the ejection seat :)

Namenlos Ein Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Did you end up in a negative g condition? It take place in the downward part of the loop. Similar this fatal crash: http://www.avsim.su/files.phtml?action=viewonline&id=15117 — video. http://www.aeronautics.ru/ka50crash.htm — description.

EagleEye Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Nice find, anybody know where the blades touch/what causes the intersection? Wasn`t that in the desciption? 2nd link. Boberro Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Wonder what happened during this takeoff procedure? Maybe wind or too strong stick pull? Who knows, only this pilot :D During night mission: Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
EagleEye Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 Wonder what happened during this takeoff procedure? I think that happens, when he was trying to start with outside view. He just does wrong control inputs, because you have to swap right and left inputs(like flying a RC plane in your direction).:D More screenshots postet by Fahrenheit here: http://www.52nd-fighter-wing.de/wbb2/thread.php?postid=2293#post2293 Deutsche DCS-Flughandbücher SYSSpecs: i7-4790K @4GHz|GA-Z97X-SLI|16GB RAM|ASUS GTX1070|Win10 64bit|TrackIR5|TM Warthog/Saitek Pro Pedals
