Of course people are a little upset when the devs first say we can download it, and then no we can´t, but suddenly this week and now we can´t...

 

This is bad marketing. I bet 1C who publish the game woundn´t release it due to they will loose money if they release it by download now even if it is in a russian language. Just think of it, you pay like 15$ and get a mod to get english text in some days and people will not buy western release because they already have a working version. This should have been checked and verified and discussed before fooling western customers and saying we can download when we can´t...

 

BTW: IF ED/1C may the game available for download on Russian server, what would prevent us from the west downloading it? If the game is availabe on a russian server without being rating in the west, is this not legal for 1C? My guess it´s not...

Thinking exactly the same thing... And I am NOT a potential customer.. I AM a customer! I have the money ready to get AND the russian version, AND the Multilanguage version AND the manual. Just spend around 2000 euro on a new system/hotas/trackir4Pro.. And I am sorry, I am not waiting for 3 months. I'll see if I can get some russians to start up a mailorder bussiness... ;)

If I were 1C, I'd make the Russian download version available, slash the Russian price and jacked it up to the regular western price at 49.95 or whatever.

BS Shark may be their "private" property, but they're not doing it as a hobby. They are doing it FOR customers, and us. If customer is happy, we'll spread the good news and they'll make lots of money. If we're not, both sides lose. Gaming industry has a very little tolerance for being so "selfish" about a game.

 

You can't say, "We're sorry you have to wait 3 more months, you have to pay way more, and don't you dare to touch the Russian version during this wait!". I could understand your "granddaddy" attitude if ED was just a mod group making their work in their little free time, but apparently they're not.

 

Just my 2 cents, probably I won't be able to play it for a year anyway.

What circumstances? Where you afraid that people would not buy the western release if they bought the Russian one and getting english text by a mod or something? Or is it because of rating? If there is no rating in Russia, why can´t we download it from your Russian site?

 

Ok, maybe "fooled" was the wrong word, but it would be a lot of better if the devs annonched the russian version only and saying a western online/boxed version will be available in 3 months from the first time. You only make people get false hope when saying yes one day, and no the other. All this could be prevented as the circumstances would appear no matter what!?

When devs says we can download it in a week one day, and suddenly we can´t the other day, that is not respectful to customers. If they had stated russian version only for russians in the first place and not giving any false hope it would all be fine. Think of it...many of us will buy it anyway. Many new guys dropping in on this forum sees it´s out and we can download it soon withih a week. Suddenly we can´t! People are getting angry and will maybe not buy BS later. The best thing to do would been to say "no you can´t download it yet, but wait for the western demo", and everyone will be happy. We who wait could see screens and movies from the russian people playing and this would also make new people wanting it. Dissapointing customers is never good buisness.

Well it seems there is something of a PR melt down happening now.

 

Personally I suspect that ED/1C are costing themselves more sales overall than the risk of losing them through a DL'able Russian version - the people here talking about DLing the Russian version are presumably those who have followed this since LockOn and before - not just casual drive-by bargain hunters - I suspect most here recognise the minimal support for sims and are prepared to pay a fair Western price for the sim.

 

Given that some people seem to be getting hold of the sim regardless and there are rumblings about English language support even in the Russian version, perhaps the Russian version could be released and payable online, but make it such that to get the other stuff, like a manual, and patches you have to pay the Western price (which will have been in addition to the Russian version of course) and that can be managed through the website at ED/1C as a log in option and/or with the activation mechanism in the game.

 

Maybe that would make the game saleable online in Russia (and to others) now, but also provide a way for ED to get a suitable return from Western customers.

 

If not that, why not just open up the order process and rely on something no one seems to believe in anymore - honesty. Just tell Western customers - this is your price, please click - I think you'll find most will, particularly if you commit to offering a patch to bring the Russian version to the Western release levels of language support and it means sales aren't lost and the core consumers here aren't ticked off.

 

Well good luck ED - just hope this sim is as good as I hope if/when it ever arrives :)

You could have foreseen this? And why can´t you just say what the circumstances are? It is also not helping banning a lot of members for critizing your decisions. Just guess what a banned member tell their friends after being banned...not helping your sales.. I have seen at least four member being banned on the "DCS gone gold" thread...

 

I think all this could have been prevented by foreseeing what could happen. The only thing you have accomplished is to disapoint people..

 

Again, tell me why you can´t upload the game to your site making it available for download worldwide? Is it because of rating or because of something else? All I ask for is an answer. Just saying things has changes leaves us disapointed customers with a big ?

The thread appeared after devs says the game will be available by download this week. People want an answer for why it has not been available. That´s why. Simple.

This thread is about respect. Respect some people demand and some people find ridiculous demanding.

 

 

I don't need a fortune-tellers comment on when the release will be, when ED doesn't know themselves, but I also don't need to be a producer or manager to read this decision. ED believed they could make an entirely Russian release. 10 Euros a copie for one of their most famous helos.

And the western world? They are used to pay 50 Euros, so it will probably be released about at this price. Just look at the threads (if they were not deleted) that evolved about prediction and calculating costs and the reactions to that!

For any lost customer that buys a Russian version, there is a high chance that due to modding and the active community, the reseller will not earn 30-40 Euros, ED probably not much less.

 

But now, honestly, is that the communities error? I doubt that. Because I also don't have to be a producer or reseller to know, that other gaming companies manage to organize a global release at least within 2 weeks, so these problems don't arise. And don't tell me, they need 3 month, because they forgot to send a copy to western rating-organizations - ROFLOL! If you don't have enough people to translate, there are dozens of people around the world who offered their support, the latest from China, if I may remind you.

 

And now ED backfires on the community, closes threads in dozens, bans people randomly, etc.

 

 

You guys want an advice? Shut the English forum down until the release. It surely won't get any better than now until then.
