NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 "Ada Lovelace" series design allegedly finalized, using TSMC 5nm - VideoCardz.com

Nvidia "Lovelace" next gen GPUs (RTX4000 series) seem to be a LOT stronger than current "Ampere" (RTX3000 series).
Really impressive if leaked specs are true - it may be the biggest GPU performance jump in history.
 

2022 is going to be exciting with Lovelace vs RDNA3

Bit of a hardware layman here, but is it already safe to say/assume that similar to the nvidia 3090, the 40XX series won't fit on a Z3xx motherboard? (like for instance a z370? )

Or is this not necessarily the case?

I try not to wish anyone ill, but the thought of Bitcoin dropping to nothing and leaving bankrupt miners with mountains of video cards they are willing to exchange for food... it just gives me the warm and fuzzies all over.

RTX3090 on Z370 will be fine.  
Even if all these new GPUs are PCIe 4.0, that is backward and forward compatible, and PCIe 3.0 won't bottleneck an RTX3090.
Maybe the future RTX4090 will make proper use of it (unknown at this point) but, for now, PCIe 4.0 only makes sense for NVMe devices.

Definitely good to see AMD back on its feet again. Between the 40/7000 series war and the Ren 4/Raptor Lake conflict, gaming is going to be impressive.

It seems AMD is going to have something even faster for it's flagship product, with the first MCM (multi-chip module architecture) GPU.

At what price and wattage, will be the next question.

 

While I'm loving to see these rumours and leaks, showing good kinds of progress and performance improvements, I'm starting to become concerned about indefinite lack of products in more affordable segments ($200~$400).

It may turn PC gaming into something out of the reach for too many gamers, veteran or newcomer alike.

And, in the mid/long-term, that can't be good for our hobby (may indirectly impact player numbers and sales of simulations, such as DCS).

So that whole thing turns out to be even stupider than that. If you're using a computer with a >650W power supply and a GPU with more capability than a 2080 Ti, it becomes considered a "highly extensible PC" so the restrictions don't apply to it. 

 

So what they've managed to ban are low end and mid-range gaming PC's, not the personal space heaters...

It will fit on the board np. 

But will it fit in your case ? Because it does stick out about 5 to 10cm past your motherboard depending on what 3090 you are going to get. 
Even if it does just fit, it produces a lot of heat so you might want to have some breathing room in there.
