missing info Cloud Flicker

I have read a number of posts on this subject and can't find any acknowledgement from ED. Are you working on it? Maybe a post explaining what you intend on doing or what's causing it would be great. Thanks.

Can confirm have this in 2d and vr , regardless of graphics settings. Very offputting.

I use the Rift S, I was thinking they might be the problem as they're not the most expensive out there.

Towards the horizon in general from above or below for me , varies with cloud type in vr and looks much better when using spyglass zoom the problem vanishes....

Its a shame its back, it was fixed but now its bad a gain like when they were first released, pretty bad in VR again

What's the point in having an open beta if your not actually going to acknowledge issues when raised, or only those your interested in.

Yep, the only solution so far is to downgrade to 2.5.6 and enjoy 2x performance with no cloud issues. Game is still big in 2.5.6 though, there are many things to play there.

There is a solution I found that fixes the clouds but causes other problems. This is for VR players. You can set the clouds to Ultra and bump you pixel density to say around 1.8 or higher. That takes care of the cloud issue.... but, as I said, it causes other performance issues that I can not live with. I would love for ED to fix this. They may be waiting for Vulkan/Multicore/Multihread to do the trick.

I think it comes to two things.. you need an excellent CPU which I don't have, and the other is just plain VR and Distance, I seem to get flicker with heavy clouds and less with high scattered. I've not played other flight simulators and am interested to know if they have similar issues?

I think it's pretty difficult to "hardware" yourself out of the cloud issue in DCS when it comes to VR. I have a pretty good system, as you do, and the issues persist. I also have the same problems as you do. In IL2, the cloud system does no suffer as badly as it does in DCS. But it's not perfect either. I'm hoping Vulkan/multithreading/multicore will fix this and other issues in this game. Now, with all that said, for me their is no better flight simulation out there. Love DCS!
