Here is a mission I've been working on the last few days.

Be advised that the mission opens with an opening scene of a recon flight and then you are placed in the cockpit on the runway ready to go in about a min.

The briefing for the mission is below.

Enjoy........

ron

-----------------------------------------

Our limited forces have recently taken over the airbase west of the city and are awaiting the main force and supplies to arrive.

Opposing forces east of the city have set up a road block east of the river on the main highway.

It has been relativly quiet until this morning when a local Recon flight was surprised and shot down by a mobile SAM installation that must have arrived in the area of the road block late last night and the airport has been under rocket attack.

Our aircraft availability at this time is low. 2 Mig 29's are awaiting parts from an inbound transport that is scheduled to arrive soon, however, the inbound transport has gone NORDO (no radios) and is unaware of the SAM threat.

The remaining 2 Mig 23's are operational, however, aircover will be unavailable until the SAM threat is eliminated.

Launch with your wingman and follow the flight plan route in an effort to surprise the SAM site from the hills to the north.

Destroy the SAM site and provide support for two tank groups heading to the area to hold the bridge.

Be advised that we have a rescue helicopter enroute to search for the crew that was shot down this morning.

You should also be advised that we have received unconfirmed reports of a FARP that has been established to the east which could provide close air support.

Once the SAM site is down we will launch air cover as it becomes available.

Good Luck!

Thanks mate.

Before english release the only way to get into serious action is by using user created missions.

btw. Does anyone know any site that's providing usermade missions, campaigns, mods to this yet ?

I remember biohazard was a good one during original Lomac.

you could teach me how the flag-rules work :). i just don't get it...

but better use the time to create more missions, so i can fly instead of building missions hehe...

Well I'm still learning what all can be done with the flags.

As a simple example, in the Road Block mission I set up a small Trigger Zone over my airport, so when the transport landed it set flag 1, then I followed with the following script:

Once Flag 1 is true

Time since Flag 1, 200 seconds ----> Activate Group Russian Migs.

Anyway, I have a couple of good ideas for further missions, and will get started on them when I get back home. It's Thanksgiving here and I'm looking forward to eating too much :D

How is your FPS running this mission?

I have a intel core duo 6750, nvidia 8800gt and 2 gigas ram 800 mhz.

At the beggining all runs very well but when the ground battle starts my FPS drops to almost 5-10 and is unplayable.

When the battle is over my FPS grows again but not like at the mission start.

Just played the mission once and my thoughts are: well done I enjoyed it (not completed it yet though!) I'd add score for the player against the SAM, tanks and so forth so I can tell I'm blowing up the right things. Also, naming waypoints STP, IP, ATTK and so forth so we know what we're expected to do when we reach them.

Could you pls add more radio chatter, so I have a idea what these other units are going to do? It`s a little bit hard for me to recognize the other units task. Plus would add immersion.

I have almost exactly the same system, the only difference is an 8800GTS instead of the GT. And i have exactly the same problem as you. Running at 1680x1050, water normal, view distance medium, everything else high, gives me 30+ FPS at start, and <10 FPS during the battle. I noticed that pausing and alt-tabbing can temporarily restore the FPS, though it drops back down after 5 seconds or so.

I really enjoyed the mission thank you.

Was rewarded after landing with a Medal too!!!!

More please......

I'll look into this when I get home, as was mentioned earlier I need to readjust the FARP layout. (I wish we had a templet for a good FARP layout - I need to look into this as well) and I have a couple of ideas for some improvements to this mission.

Anyway, part of doing it the way I did was to create the "reality" atmosphere of taking off and not having a clear idea of what you were going to find when you arrive at the target area with the confusion of a battle on-going. This simulation is GREAT for creating this IMHO.

Use F2 and F7 as you progress to the target area to get an idea of what starts happening AFTER you take off. I still have some plans to use triggers to have the mission randomly start a bit differently with different units that appear in the mission.

Once you arrive at the hilltop select target area #1 on the INS and the "turn on target" mode to get you started, this is also a good mission to go back and reload to clear out the FARP or artilery once the bridge area is somewhat secure.

Thanks to all for the comments. I'm glad everyone is enjoying it. I've learned alot about the new mission creator by creating this mission and can't say enough about how great this simulation really is. I have already started the layout for another mission and will upload it when it's ready.

Hi Ron. I'm just waiting for the Western release of BS. In the meantime I'm glad to see someone (you) making missions. Is there somewhere that BS missions can be uploaded?

Flyby out

ps: well, I'm waiting on a new $y$tem too. The wife won't let me load sims up on her pc. ;)

Have you tried this ?

Some graphics options can be set in the options.lua file found in the \...\BlackShark\data\scripts folder. Specifically, you can change water to either '1' (low setting) or '0' (texture only)

I changed the water to 1 and i think it helped a lot to my fps. I also put the fps limit to 30. Now it's much more playable. I can even now put everything else max. Only view distance is medium.

Thanks RapidFir3... changing water to 1 help a lot, now i have in the middle of the ground battle 15 FPS at less, and 25 at average.

Maybe the attack position with the ocean in front could be the reason. NOw wiht the water in low is much more playable.

Here is my track about the " carnage " in the block position.
