It's insane!

Getting a few Vikhrs off on a helo after finally locking it up and selecting the air to air modes appropriate for the attack... seeing a few prox detonations and then closing to within guns range and dancing on the pedals while dogfighting with the limited visibility(cockpit view only) is pretty damned hair raising. Then getting a good deflection burst off to see the pieces break off your opponent and finally catch fire is very thrilling!

MUCH more intense than jets!

You can also sneak up on an opponent then lock him up at the last second and kill him easily with an auto-tracking guns shot.

The RAF server had a capture the flag scenario up today and it was a great head to head team mission.

Hmmm, I might have to get in on some of that action Mark. Where is Papa Doc around when you need an easy target? ;)

Papa Doc, Papa Doc....now there's a name I haven't heard for about a zillion years....from the newsgroups? Comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.flightsims or something like that? Sorry, OT, but the name somehow rang a bell...maybe I'm thinking of somebody else anyway.

Here's a shot of me taking care of that pinko back in the day :)

We sure had fun back then with v1.0 and 1.5!!

Remember it well. When PapaDoc became a proud father of a daughter, and ED built him a pink skin in celebration!

ED made the Flanker series?

Cool that was my favorite sim for ages (Flanker 1.0), I choose my nickname after I played it.

They sure did! Su-27 Flanker V1.0 was my first PC sim.

We had a very active international online community back then using IRC at the Flanker O' Club and Kali and Khan.

At one time "Wags" was just "Wags" schooling us in BVR in v1.5. We've both been involved with ED and the Flanker series since the mid to late 90's although he's a bigshot now. :)

Here's some names from the past:

Wags... that's Matt

Stinger... that was me

Papa Doc

Adamski

Palerider

Taurion

Lawndart

Trak Dah

Chaos

Chesty

Kevo

Catseye

Brzi

Ejecto

Killerbee

Quax

Wicked

Baco

and many, many more!

Has anyone though of putting up a retro screenshot link for Flanker, Falcon, Tornado and other great sims of the past?

I think that would be cool

I love this entry:

Falcon: Operation Infinite Resolve was developed by Force 12 Studios and was due to be published by G2 Interactive in 2002.
