Once I've finished mine, I hope to be able to share everything  with clear instructions. I will be sharing the code as well as gerber zip files ready to upload to PCBWay or similar, so anyone who wants to build one, will only have to know how to solder a bit, crimp cables and 3D print. But everything else will be provided.

you do a very great job. used your page also 🙂

That would be awesome 👏

Do I buy a 3D printer.... I guess It would be very useful for other things too.... like the harrier pit for example.

HP G2 Reverb, Windows 10 VR settings: IPD is 64.5mm, High image quality, G2 reset to 60Hz refresh rate as standard. OpenXR user, Open XR tool kit disabled. Open XR was a massive upgrade for me.

DCS: Pixel Density 1.0, Forced IPD at 55 (perceived world size), 0 X MSAA, 0 X SSAA. My real IPD is 64.5mm. Prescription VROptition lenses installed. VR Driver system: I9-9900KS 5Ghz CPU. XI Hero motherboard and RTX 3090 graphics card, 64 gigs Ram, No OC at the mo. MT user  (2 - 5 fps gain). DCS run at 60Hz.

Vaicom user. Thrustmaster warthog user. MFG pedals with damper upgrade.... and what an upgrade! Total controls Apache MPDs set to virtual Reality height with brail enhancements to ensure 100% button activation in VR.. Simshaker Jet Pro vibration seat.. Uses data from DCS not sound.... you know when you are dropping into VRS with this bad boy.

Well I went to aprint shop and the grips I got on Thingivers cost about 175 to print. it maybe cheaper to buy a 3d printer plus I still need to make all the buttons..

I am at a loss where to even start with this project??

You can get a 3D printer for a little more than they wanted for the print, but you have to dive in this topic of printing. Anyways it’s worth it, because if you have a printer you will find a ton of applications to use it. Starting out with some simple stuff and working your way up to more complex models is a journey. Knowing your slicer software, the best settings for the printer depending on the materials and learn some CAD software will be the tasks.

Of course your decision depends on the amount of time you can spend on learning to print or you want to get a TEDAC quite soon, then you might be better off with  manufactured grips and concentrate on putting everything together.

I had a printer before so I chose to print it myself. I just struggle with the electronics and my lack of time, besides work and family 😉

I vouch for that. I only have an Ender 3, which is one of the most basic ones and very inexpensive, and I've more than paid for it with the amount of things I've done. I couldn't recommend it more.

Hello @Hammer1-1 @Marshallman and @corbu1

Obviously, I cannot speak for alaindufour's builds, and they look nicer than mine's. Looks like his enclosures are either plastic injected molds or resin printed. Mine are simple FDM 3D prints so the finish look more DIY.

Of course, if you have the time and very basic soldering skills, you can build your own following the instructions in my website: Ah 64d Tedac it's complete enough to build your own, and it has very minor bugs that have easy workarounds. I know of people that have already built their's following my instructions, or even just being inspired by them and modifying the build to their own needs.

If you don't have the basic skills, or you just don't want to go through the hassle of building it, I'd be willing to have a conversation about selling mine. PM me if you're interested and you want me to show in depth what the two units that I currently have already built look like. Bear in mind that I live in Spain, so probably shipping to EU is reasonable. To America may be a bit expensive shipping. In any case, even with shipping costs, it's probably going to be a small fraction of what the commercial options will be. It will also not have the nice finish of a commercial product, of course. It's a DIY product built at my house, and if more than 2 people are interested, I will have to build them on demand, and lead times will be counted in weeks.

Hey everyone,

I've been seeing all this great enthousiasm for the builds with the upcoming updates on the apache I bought myself a 3d printer and starting working on the grips myself. been drawing for about 2 weeks to get to the current point. Nearly ready to go into printing phase. Started learning fusion360 on the go xD.

ill be happy to get to the printing phase at this moment.

ill worry about the electronics once im confident on the grips hardware?

what do you guys think? 🙂

hi. sorry for the late reply. thanks for the nice comment on my work. I make tedac on demand basis. its a small production so if you are interested i can built one for you. just email me at alaindufour418@gmail.com

Can I ask, what was the manufacturing process for the grips? They don't look 3d printed?

Here's how they look so far, coming out of the printer. and being provided with some actuators already. Some sides are quite rough. they are quite bulky, so I might have some dimensions wrong. But in general I am quite pleased with this so far. It took about 14h to print the handle components and had to redo the triggerhousing part a couple of times due to weak points.
