Than it's probably not related.

Doing some maintenance doesn't harm though! 👍

CPU temps were definitely running high. I cleaned up the chip and the cooler, re-applied paste, and it's much cooler now. I'll monitor to see if the freezes go away. I still don't understand why my computer freezing would cause others near me to freeze also. I was not hosting the server. 🤷‍♂️

One client having issues on a server can potentially bring down the entire server. For example if your true ping spiked into the thousands because of this, etc... We've seen that time and time again in online servers, when you monitor the network connection in the performance tab, you see true ping and packet loss. I am speculating here, but it is not out of the question that 1 client introduces issues for all clients up to even complete server crash. It is actually one of the most common things to bring down a server, specifically with extreme pings and packet loss involved.

That may be true but there has been a disturbing increase in Tomcat related CTDs/freezes in the last couple of months, both SP and MP.

It is not just Tomcat, I get it every time with F-16C after several minutes of flight.

Ther are too many reports of this to be a setup issue.

Is ED investigating that problem?

And how would they do that if you did not even upload the log in your own thread. Help them help you.

Yes, right, totally agree. Where is the thread describing what is needed to submit when the problem arises?

Thank you for the reminder, I agree 100%, it was just a statement without any "proof". Next time I will include whatever is needed.

I'm sorry. It was not in the link I gave you earlier. Your dcs.log is needed for first troubleshooting. You can find it in your user profile /saved games/dcs world/logs folder.

Has anyone had a similar situation, where (using VR) it freezes for about 4 or 5 seconds, and then unlocks again without crashing? Always seemed to happen when I was looping through a cloudbase.

Several months ago ED boasted of a performance boost for VR, and it seems about maybe a month and a half ago, it lost it. Ive been chasing lower settings on the F14 ever since, which is obviously the most hogworthy of all the DLC, because its so good.

To add to this.... I am apart of an online group called VNAO, we have been experiencing the same issue, different hardware configurations, VR and flatscreen.... we have been testing, and have yet to come up with a cause that we can pin down. Come next month I will have enough of a sample group to get semi accurate results. The issue has persisted over 2 different servers with different host locations, different mission files, different airframes... I will come back when we get enough results to point to something that can help.

Coming back to this thread as the issue currently persists... We have been testing different items, and have yet to nail down a 100% trigger. Currently we are working with the F-14, on any map, without mods (By taking out the entire mods folder), and the issue persists. Log files and track files consistently do not generate. Our current working theory is to due with large amounts of Ram usage. The last test we have done is to decrease the amount of ram used via settings (Medium textures, Low/ off on almost everything else, and with the preload radius down to sub 14000). The crash has still occurred, but later into the mission around the 90 min from spawn. If anyone can confirm that the lowering of ram causes it to occur later in a mission then it may be a clue.

I write the same answer in every topic relating this freeze and crash F-14's issue.

I had such issue in both F-14 campaigns (reforger and cage the bear). And on mission 6 (reforger) I had a crash. So I tried again and no crash.

The only thing I did not the second time : I did NOT press F2 view key. I stayed in the cockpit or F10 map. Nothing else. And guess what ? I was able to end both campaigns without any crash. I did only never use F2 view.

Maybe I was lucky... or not.

So an update from me since I started this thread, I haven't had any freezes since cleaning up my CPU and reapplying thermal paste. But I still see so many lately talking about similar freezes, so it seems unlikely everyone has dirty computers that are overheating.

After testing the issue for over a month, F2 might be a factor, but the carrier doesn't. We have had crashes with a carrier in the mission and without. We have had crashing over 100 miles and within 2 miles. Overall even with a sample size of 12 we can not get it to happen consistently to the same person under the same conditions. Even timing is inconsistent... who knows.

Have you changed your mods? Pagefile? Overall settings?

I removed all mods, re-adjusted page file settings, and a few other things people recommended, but it didn't help. Only after cleaning my tower and reapplying paste to get my high temps down did the freezes go away.

Looks like I jinxed myself. Me and another Tomcat pilot just experienced the dual freeze exactly like the video I posted on Jul 13 in this thread. It's so strange how one person's freeze causes someone else in close proximity to experience the same. The server we were on did not crash and wasn't restarted. Our DCS applications just stopped responding, frozen screen, audio continuing/looping, until we got the "not responding" pop up and had to end task.

I have been trying to track down this issue for awhile and have been trying to get every factor in relation to the crash we can. It seems this thread

and this bug report https://forum.dcs.world/topic/307327-dcs-freezesunresponsive-at-approximately-90-minutes-mission-elapsed-time/ are all the same or similar issues .... One thread thinks it is in relation to F-14 AI, this thread is kinda up in the air. Iron Mike if you read this what extra info can we help provide to track this down.

At the moment unfortunately little. The fix last patch was not applied correctly (the AI.dll), but was slated to be released in this patch, which is now unfortunately postponed to September.

You guys did so much already and we're deeply grateful for it, thanks a ton, really! I still have high hopes that the fix gets rid of this in september then, and currently we will have to wait and see.

If someone can reproduce this consistently though, and you are willing to sacrifice more of your free time, which you should enjoy flying, not testing, imho, please send me a pm, and we can have you try a testbuild that includes the fix. If that then still does not work, we need to look further.

I run the 517.48 GeForce drivers and I´m s till experiencing this issue in October 2022.

I fly the F-14B solely in singleplayer and using the Liberation campaign mission generator. I´m able to finish maybe only like 40 % missions without DCS freezing, it´s so frustrating 😕

Approximately 95% of the game freezes happen when I´m on my way to RTB (that´s at least 45 min or later after running the mission), not too far away from the airfield or carrier. Everytime the freeze occurs while sitting in the cockpit and looking elsewhere than straight ahead. The DCS is only SW that freezes, the opentrack keeps running, the DCS Liberation campaign keeps running and the Voiceattack with Vaicom Pro plugin keeps running as well.

I can´t think about anything I do to trigger the game freeze,. Theonly connection I can think of is, that it happens usually after I look behind my back or to the sides of my cockpit. But I can´t be sure about that, because you have to look around you all the time in this game... And maybe that I already called the inbound while ago.

Is there anything we can help to identify this problem?

Here is my log from the last game crash.

Thx,

Goliathus
