MadKreator Posted September 2, 2022 Posted September 2, 2022 (edited) Using a Samsung crg9 5120x1440 49” ultra wide monitor. Game looks fantastic, everything is great, except the HUD’s. The lines and letters are fat and blurry. Its not a brightness thing. I’ve had to modify the .lua files in each of my planes ( and make ovgme mods so I don’t have to keep redoing them) to get the HUD lines and letters to be crisp and clear, like when using a non-ultra wide monitor. The rest of the graphics in game are great. I’ve seen people mention having similar issues on ultra-wides in the past, just thought I’d bring it up again, maybe ED can add to the list to figure out better native support for ultra-wides Oddly enough its not as bad in the F-18 as it is in the AV8B, F-16, and A-10. The harrier is the worst as it also affects the mfd’s as well. A-10 I have not adjusted* couldn’t fine the correct file/ lines to edit. So I have external mfd’s setup now, but problem was there before I did that as well. The aspect auto configured when I manually entered the total screen size. Before this monitor I had an msi 3440x1440 widescreen and don’t remember ever having to mess with it until i got the 5120x1440.. possibly just a weird quirk with the ultra-wide. Maybe I will hook the 3440x1440 back up one of these days and see if there is a difference. I don’t mind having to edit it to be right, especially since I figured out how to use ovgme to just turn it on and off. I’ve been using the 49” monitor for 2 years now, so It doesn’t bother me. Every other graphic in the game is crisp and clear, just the HUD’s look like they’re from 1999 if I don’t modify them lol I’ll bet its just an issue with 32:9 aspect, since its not a very common size for people to run. on another note: if anyone reads this and is having the same issue, I’m happy to share my .lua settings for the 18,16 and av8b Edited September 3, 2022 by MadKreator Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones

This is a known bug and has never been resolved. Vakarian Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Bumping for visibility. Is there a chance this gets another look as the issue is still present? 1
MadKreator Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 Easy fix adjusting a couple Lua files manually (IC breakers of course) .. maybe not so easy to incorporate into the game. A slider would be nice. But it also affects exported displays as well. Whole lot to think about. Probably goes hand in hand with spotting dots and external mfd brightness. UI layer revamp which BN mentioned is not such an easy task with so many things tied to it. Hopefully it at least gets considered 1 Intel i7 13700k, ASUS rog strix z790A, 64gigs G.Skill Trident DDR5 @6400Mhz, Nvidia RTX 4080FE, 4TB, 2x 2TB, 1TB Samsung NVME, 1TB Samsung SSD, Corsair RM1000x, Corsair Titan 360 X AIO cooler, Lian Li LanCool 2, VKB Gunfighter Ultimate, VKB Custom STECS , MFG Crosswinds, Moza FFB, Virpil Collective, Track IR5, 48” LG UltraGear OLED & HP 24” touchscreen for Helios,49” Samsung Ultrawide, Streamdeck XL, Corsair Virtuoso RGB Headphones
Tobur Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Hi, I also used Hud fixes via lua files for my 49" monitor and was able to join servers previously. With the 2.9 update I break IC without changes on my side or the server's (i checked with them). Is this intentional? Any work around for the widescreen blurry-ness instead?
