manual Chaff anf flare counter measures Dispense

Hello,

 

i was wondering if its possible to either dispense chaff or Flare manually ? For example i press one button to dispense chaff and another one for flares.

 

I would like to optimise my counter measures, use only Chaff in BVR and Chaff in dog fight manually

For example:

Edit CMS programm 1 to dispense only one flare, edit CMS programm 5 (I believe its 5 for the slap switch) to only dispense chaff. Then, set CMS programm knob to 1. If you then press CMS UP you will dispense a flare, and if you press the CMS slap switch (not sure if its called that) you will dispense only one chaff.

I see, so i need to edit the CMS via the UCP each time i spawn in PvP server ? i wish we had something like tr JEff where we can customize the CMS programm in the option. isn't the programm 5 the panic program and would release both Chaff and flare ?

Depends. Normally yes, but you can edit the lua file which contains the programs directly, then you don't have to enter it again, but you need to redo the lua file change after every update/repair.

Such a feature is in the works.

It does, unless you change the program to what you want to dispense.

but i don"t understand as its supposed to either use chaff or flares but at the end, the person says that it will release both chaff and flares are differents intervals

just read thre Lua file, its acually quite easy to modify the program

Program 1-4 are selectable and used with CMS up. Program 5 is the panic button. Program 6 is CMS left.

I'd suggest to always make program 6 one of your custom selections since it's easy to use, though I guess since you can bind the panic button to your HOTAS, it's just as easy. The F-16 makes it really simple to dispense chaff, flare, or both without needing to swap programs.

I was wondering :

 

If i put the counter measure on MAN ( manual) and programm 1, Can i still be able to activate mnually the ECM pod ? or the ECM Pod needs to be always in either Semi Auto or Auto for it to work ?

thats in Semi auto Mode isn't it ?

So far i use it in Semi auto mode, where i press CMS aft for consent for Chaff dispense and the panic push button for dispensing chaff + Flares in Dogfight

So if i select MAN instead of semi auto, it's still AFT to activate and Right to disable it ?

Yes, it's still CMS AFT and CMS Right.

I think the jammer has to be in Mode 3 to work in Manual mode, and it is a broadcast emitter rather than a lock-breaking mode.

In that case, as both situations do not occur at the same time, just stay with the usual programs and just disable chaff or flares on the CMD console. So in case the program 1 usually fires 5 chaff, 5 flares and you set flares to "off" to save them.. program 1 will only fire 5 chaff. Then, in dogfight, switch chaff to off and flares to on.
