This is a short YT video of a USN F-18 pilot making a recent C-1 landing on the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71).

So, watching this video, skip to 5:45 as the pilot passes the 90 and starts lining up with the boat. At 5:51 the "ball" becomes visible on the deck, and at 6:04 or so he's fully in the groove. What interests me is how bright the ball is. It's clearly visible and can be used for it's intended purpose.

I am always frustrated by how dim it is on the SC - next to invisible actually. I always wish it were brighter, and this video seems to suggest that IRL it is. Does the ball seem dim to anyone else?

Additionally, it seems the IFLOS itself on the actual boat is a bit larger than the one on the SC in DCS.

Adjusting the brightness of the IFLOS should be part of the airboss station, in my opinion. But I don't know how the real thing works.

ED talked about controlling carrier lighting, but SC is definitely on the back burner, despite being still in EA.

On 2.7 I never really had problems with ball brightness, but since 2.8 I've noticed the ball itself suddenly pops into view somewhere between 1/2 and 3/4 mile, while the datum line is visible well out to 1nm or even more.

Ive never seen the deck ball lights EVER in the groove, not until im in the wires. But i dont mind the iflols pop up so hey ho.

ED should note the length of the wake in this video, as its now very very long, like 1nm, i dont know but feel thats tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo long..

It's correct as is. It depends on the carrier speed.
