  1. It is actually now very easy to hold AoA on Speed in a straight line (ive even considered going for a smoke when its in auto throttle) However, when you do a case 1 and going into a 30 deg bank, the E bracket indicates you are fast (which it previously did not it was rock solid as long as you didnt use any pitch) This can encourage you to trim in back to centre with more nose up, but when you roll out you are then indicated as slow and will also balloon if you added any throttle. Not sure if the E bracket is just an indication or if you actually are trimmed low nose thus Fast. Banklers certainly seems to think so as it is now throwing feedback of Fast and slow. To be honest it feels like its a tomcat with the funny wobble if you roll too aggressively followed by the AOA indexer showing fast, in the tomcat you would bump the stick back a little cos it is a tomcat and you can. The hornet has always been solid with the E bracket Bolted to the centre once trimmed on speed AoA, even landing and launching several times it held its trim bang in the centre all the time. Like i say it could just be an indication, but it is very off-putting. One other minor thing i noticed is on Cat 1 I always used to put the bank angle caret between the directors feet but now the caret needs to be at his knees when the director says stop. Could be the front wheel suspension has lifted the nose a fraction, not a biggie. The biggie is slapping your head into the dash when you brake hard and the nose dips, it seems excessive IMHO, but hey ho its gotta be right, right?
  2. I recently got some Virpil pedals and had a lot trouble getting DCS to recognize the default Virpil axis - each time i went in to adjust it wanted an rZ axis so i had to hit the drop down and select the Joy-Z to set the curves on the correct axis. Now i cant recall whether i changed the virpil defaults or after several Rescan clicks it finally opened Axis tune on the axis i wanted but it finally did. So it is possible when you go into axis tune for the rudder pedals it offers the wrong axis to tune so you need to change it. If it is not this then Hmmm....
  3. Oddly i had to rebind mine today as the speed brake wasnt extending - I use Target to press keybinds for me and they have been B Shift B forever - but for some reason in Adjust controls my bindings were doing Retract and Off - So it wasnt extending at all Very Strange.... even for halloween
  4. I agree - sometimes im like, ill not go into hover hold cos i got it just nice - I find the tail will drop and we roll right - looks messy Also getting a slow left right of the nose when flying straight and level - i can see the Green bar in controls for rudder moving left right - i trim to it and it wants more until im hard on the right pedal Also without moving/touching the collective once its nice and level - it will just start to climb or descend randomly for no "apparent" reason, (no other inputs) Have experienced the right roll and yaw as per hotfix also last thing i dont like is when you press force trim to sweeten the hover or heading etc - it does a little nose down right move Ahh and pedal turns seem to need a little more push than id expect to overcome the autoheading hold It is very much closer to what i would "Expect" on the difficulty and not wanting to kill you so much level. (but what do i know) Keep tweaking ED
  5. I guess this would be a Down Long on George to search again in same area even if he finds nothing, which i think the wording for Down Long already implies, i have likely never searched the same LOS twice if george finds nothing - so it could be it does this already... If not +1

Glad someone else has spotted this, plus some other points below FA18 comms 4 way hat, 2 radios 2 mids - setting the radios to VOIP comms leaves nothing to open F10 menu, means you cant call wingman, tanker, boat, etc once you are weight off wheels flying - i have a mouse side button for ground comms - i dont want another 2 buttons on my hotas just to pull up the menu - which you must pull up with the correct comm channel tuned to the particular agency. Right now i have a modifier to the hat for radios - but this isnt really practical playing origami with my fingers to make a swan while sat behind the tanker or in the pattern.... Also bumping the comm to remove the menu was possible now im reaching for a mouse Other things to note - once you minimize the chatroom and go to the radio section you cannot unminimize - you have to go back to chat rooms and unminimize then go back to radios to see it expanded etc. not sure if you then minimize radios and go to chat whether you can expand it.... never got that far. Lastly one other thing - when minimized if i place it at the bottom of the screen away from everything else (nearly depends on bird), if i expand it the expansion drops off the screen, would be nice if it popped up to fit then back down - might be too much to ask - reason i would have it available to popup and interact with is 1. to confirm/deny im transmitting and to trashcan myself from a room which someone has just joined with their MIC on 200% ear melt. Likely this will affect other modules my, harrier, 16, Cat, Pashaye, im thinking of you when i come to adjust controls.... lets hope things are possible or maybe VC will be turned Off permanent Hope this helps
  7. Ahh thats a pity, thx for the latest luas though i will push them in Ok auto-pass toggle didnt see that will use it. I guess i wish too, lol I will find a work around for laser or just not use it and/or not forget Hmmm voice attack "Im sorry that command doesnt exist", it has never understood me, in WOT i tried VA to fit tracks by saying "Tracks", it replied "What", it did work if i said "Four" Lots of reaching for the mouse i guess, or modifier key it to press F4, that could work. Ill try respawn again with the new luas and see what happens, its not critical just nice. So thx for quick response..
  8. Hi, Hope your still deving this script dude, i just found it and im loving it for building my trg mission full of goodies, and i have a wish or two:: Ok the auto-pass is great, but, auto start is a problem if your just overflying the engagement zone (I actually have a tanker route go over it) it will clear you hot and mess up your day (clutter your day at least). So is there a way, so i can have auto start on in the script and this not happen. Im thinking in the f10 menu selecting "Range" sets you in range mode and only then does auto-pass or even manual roll-in act as a function. Also like when you use the AI radio on the tanker the F10 "Tanker" menu locks into only the tanker options, ie you dont have to step through to request rejoin it sits on it. So maybe with your script when you select F10 "other" "Enter Range" the f10 menu locks into the range menu with "results, designate, settings, Roll-in/Off" options, then either have "Exit Range" or "previous menu" kicks you back to main. Its not like you want to call ATC while cleared hot and running in. So many times im running in on a laser and i have forgot to designate, or it is still designated to the last tgt. So on the designation, can there be a script true false option, that will drop the smoke, drop the laser etc when you Off range or Auto-pass Off range. I dont mind it giving a new tgt next time round as long as i am not fumbling with the menu to undes redes etc etc. Finally on the menu, how would i get "Rolling-in" and "Off Target", to always be under "F1" press, i have a button on my hotas for F1 which i use behind the tanker. Now, MP, I havent tried with a buddy using the range with me yet, im sure its fine for circle bombing as long as we leave space to call Off tgt. How will this work with lasing, does a second client get his own lased tgt, and control of designation type etc.. (i will try this but i may have questions later) MP ranges usually have a top ten last passes with details for Undes bombs and des bombs etc, is this easily added. How do i set a unit "T55 Tk-1" in MEd, so that it shows and takes damage, becoming a smoking hulk on the ground, which is reported in results as %. And then de-spawn and respawn them for reuse on future passes. ( i have the units placed, question is what ME settings are needed) So as you can see, maybe more than two wishes, I really hope your still actively deving the script, and can help with the above. Many Many Thx - Sorry for long wind, things kept coming to me as i was typing. Oh forgot - this script is from Ca BSA auto V3 mission - Tits 2.3 and range-UI 1.3 - using my mission with edited CaBSA3.lua for the actual range targets
  9. Simply open the lua - find the line - copy it and paste below - edit that new line with a -1.0 and change on/off to off - save - run game - enjoy Use open mod manager (the new OVGME) to replace that file on future patches - or keep that line ready and paste in as req per patch - or edit each time manually after patch Wish list will be noted but ED are not super fast however hard you push lol Ive typed enough here to equate to editing that lua 5 or 6 times - thats a good 6 months flying with an on and an off switch via the LUA. Just saying
  10. Yeah the only significant external forces the AH64 faces in DCS on your computer is you continually crashing into the ground through pilot incompetence.....
  11. You should physically check if Vsync is on as - when the patch causes an authorisation problem it deletes some of your settings held in the Options lua. May not be the case but check them This unchecked my rudder trim and reset trim from centre spring to default in the Huey Worth a look... took me longer to type this than to check .....
  12. Initially i thought this update was just so the engine indicators, dials and gauges, showed correctly towards IRL, but i took her up for a flight and well........................... All of the comments i concur... for the purposes of feedback - (and as always these are MY experiences, a ham-fisted pilot that knows nothing about helicopters) 1. More left pedal and cyclic for IGE hover required or round you go. 2. Fuel consumption is through the roof.... 3. Climb climb climb if you dont get that collective off, then its down down, holding level was just weirdly feeling like a knife edge. 4. Previously when i hit the afterburner stop on my Warthog it was 90ktswith 40% fuel slick, now its pushing 140+kts and still wants to climb. 5. Had to redo all my axis for roll/pitch/yaw, did they do the same they did with the apache and increase the axis thingemmy bobs. 6. You need to swing the Pedals ALL the way left from right off centre when you hit 100kts+ so assume tail rotor still not fixed. 7. Cyclic can be trimmed forward to the stops and still up she goes. I had been training someone in the Huey so we can move onto the Apache. I have had to put off the apache cos it is £$%^%$, and right now the Huey is also £$%$%^&. No changes to the F-18 though right? RIGHT??? - i hope not.... Caveat: Not a real pilot, but even i can feel these changes are NOT right, of course there can be many reasons for them. So whats going on guys?
  13. you tube is your friend here, it even gives pictures and setup advice - just search DCS Huey and watch the world of tutorials roll out before your eyes. Then come back here to ask tips if/for any thing that your doing wrong rather than how, will make your journey faster for sure. Hope this helps You can even add to the search "DCS UH-1 Huey Warthog Setup" - then same for how to fly....
  14. So say we all... Now lets jump over to the Huey thread and push that Love we were promised.. I might buy a collective if we get these 2 right..
  15. I feel for ya dude, this and other things are what i have been experiencing for some time now, i guess all we can do is document these experiences in the hope ED can get it working in whichever way it is supposed to. I think anything else I/we say now is just non-pilot speculation, which often is of no help, but at least i get the frustration across.. However flyable the Apache is at the moment, wrongly or rightly it is still, Annoying...
  16. Thank god, Thought maybe i was the only one at the party in Fancy dress.... ( I came dressed a an early Native American, hoping not to be left out) This maybe why when i nose down to move off and start trimming the cyclic in small bumps, there is a fight on. Lots of parameters changing on the way like torque, altitude, speed, transition, trim, and this bit of unwanted motion upsetting all those, creating more necessary control inputs, creating more instability, creating more scas,..... you can see where im going with this.... ultimately the heading hold does go off at around 25 30 knots Is this an expected Control Loop process in the real world helo, or a DCS WIPism... I have said in other posts about the scas leading your input, if you use the "move control, bump trim and centre" method for inputs... is this then the wrong way to do it? My guess is holding the FTR will still turn it off and back on while you move stick and release, and if the scas dont agree, your gonna get the yaw movement plus other stuff even more.. I need to do some more testing, but right off i cant see how you can exactly match the Controls indicator, which in real world you dont have.. In my defence, and as always I am not knocking anything or anyone, just trying to progress my flying abilities.. and highlight my experiences with the module.
  17. Do you guys get a right yaw while in the hover and trimming your stick with a quick trim click. Watching the controls indicator when you click FTR the heading hold goes off then back on and during that i get some yaw and maybe some other stuff because of that yaw, like scas on the stick or collective or both - it creates a wobble you have to work to stay in a good static hover - annoying....
  18. @bradmick- Hi, watched all or am working through your videos, mainly the ones on flight, symbology, trim etc, there is a lot of useful stuff in there. Explained very well too, even that simple bit about pitch and speed using the horizon line in the Ihadds, not even sure thats in the manual and had always wondered what "set pitch to 90 knots" meant. 2 things have me baffled though, Heading hold (not the HOLD modes), on the pedals when you lift, i use central trim system, i lift into the hover no problem and as your vids have shown let the heading hold deal with the pedals through the SCAS, but I get a right yaw when i press FTR and release it. Heading hold goes off and back on for a moment and is rather annoying, is this correct activity, can i do something to prevent it or do i just live with it. As i say im simply getting into a hover so bump stick and trim as required, but that gets de-stabilised when the yaw kicks in, should i be doing something with the pedals. My gear doesnt lend itself to holding FTR moving stick and releasing, especially micro movements. This probably affects yaw while in general flight too, to a lesser or greater extent, need more testing. Hmm took a while to word that and now i have forgotten the second point...brb Thought of another Question though, I saw at the start of your "how I trim" vid, you set you controls with saturation on the "Y", could you maybe make a video on how you got to these numbers, and what effect they have. I have tried it a few times and always ended up going back to 100% (usually after a patch), I have always had a linear 100% sat collective and i see you have 70%, my guess is this gives more granularity and finer control, but loses the top and bottom end, also you have it as a curve whereas I set all my throttle curves to slider, is there a difference under the bonnet/hood. I am the Huey guy from a post up top, i realise there are many nuances with the apache over the Huey, the SCAS for one and the overall mass for 2, but I can fly the Huey quite well. I just cant get on with the Apache, I did in the early days but over the patches since launch I lost my way, aware its still WIP but would appreciate any pointers, I have a desk mounted Warthog with a reduced spring, no extension, in F16 position. As always many thx, and keep those videos coming they really get into resolving issues/expectations people have... trying to remember the other point, i'll be back....
  19. Yeah, advise turn wake turb off again - it is claimed in other threads WIP, as Burble affect mechanics are not too good.. But yeah see other threads too for confirmation.
  20. So, pretty much the same as the Huey, but we have been told its not like a Huey, are we now saying it is like a Huey, Im gonna lift like its a Huey.....
  21. OK so i see how this is relevant now, i thought it was just a survey, not an, if you do that you have to use that or it wont act like that to do that, question. So i come from the Huey, with a Warthog Hotas, i push the stick then bump the trim (up) and relax my stick, i never took a liking to holding trim for those small movements to set a hover or a heading etc. I have the Special tab set to Central trim position for both cyclic and rudder (stops the doubling of input before getting back to centre), so once my trim is set, my physical controls then sit centred and relaxed. I use this to set into a hover from the ground or from flight, and to get myself into level forward flight (speed set, Alt set, direction set), any changes from here are purely on the stick for say some active combat style stuff and i dont reset the trim at any point during this phase, except maybe to tidy up if speed, alt, direction changes are required, then as i return to normal level flight or hover or landing etc i will bump trim as required. I can see if im holding trim (up) the green plus stays with the stick when i move it, my understanding was holding trim (up) was to de-saturate SCAS, so is this where I am going wrong? I had my trim (down) Btn set to "reset trim" until recently, but maybe trim (Down) does something else in the future, trim (left, right) are set to the hold modes as per. Summary: I move my stick/pedal and press trim(up), then centre my stick/pedals, is this bad/wrong? Just read Raptor Question again and not sure i answered it, I would likely drop any hold mode i was in to change speed Alt heading etc re-trim using the methods above as required then re-select holds. The reason for this mainly, is how much the helo becomes wobbly and unstable with big pedal inputs to rotate in a hover. Reading above curves may be a feature so my curves are currently 16 for x/y and rudder, collect is linear 0. Ahh maybe this still dont answer it,.....
  22. Took watching this to realise what you were doing, with replays and patches etc - then in the last bit the lights came on - yah thats not good... Regardless of what they have or havent done - i am not convinced it is better or worse than before... The SCAS pot seems limited and it seems all the axis add to the same pot - so if your in ALT hold flying along nice but close to saturation on the pedals any input from any axis will likely over-saturate and your altitude will start to oscillate, this will affect those close to saturation pedals and into a bank you go, followed by roll and pitch, followed by interaction with the ground in an unpleasant manner. Or at best some unprofessional looking flight.... - coming to a high hover from this flight also gets some odd yaws and oscillations of flight. Seems either the Saturation pot is too small or the rate the SCAS tries to help you? or compensate is too high, also why does it lead your inputs. Push your stick right/left and see the green plus leads you to your stops - this is why you sometimes go upside down when trying to side slip or even turn Controls indicator says a lot, many dont fly with it on, i find it impossible not to know where my axis are. Watch the rudder go left right like a banshee never catching up and always saying "hey i want to be over here, not where you want it" - very hard not to be in a crab for the whole flight. Slip gauge and FPM dont seem to indicate correctly. The smallest movement of the collective has you going up/down, left or right, while the scas tries to control it, it is so so sensitive. Im likely wrong but the SCAS is either supposed to compensate/stabilize and/or dampen your crazy inputs - it is not supposed to say "Sorry buddy im going this way" Likely the manual or someone important that knows will need to give an explanation of what the SCAS does for us at some point, and what it doesnt do for us. Speculation will continue..... its EA and i am not a SME - just an observer assuming thats not what it is supposed to do.. be gentle.
  23. I dont think people really think it is "HARD" to fly, for me it is simply "HARD WORK" when flying, which for a modern helo with a SCAS you wouldnt expect it to be. Actually flying the apache right now is "EASY", it just does some odd things when you dont expect it, making it a chore... Yes you can Ying Yang around in a combat stylo, but pretend you have passengers and its bring out the sick bags... Real pilots say things are hard to reduce competition for their job....., everybody here in DCS and that other game from MS believes they could fly in real life.... or at least want to.. Its not finished, its EA, needs work, it is WIP, etc etc, and its not fun.. IMHO Flew the F-14 today, after patch changes, and its real nice... so i can wait for the Apache NP
  24. Ah thx dude that explains alot - i will fly with these expectations in future
  25. So this raises a question about the Holds... 1. When you press ALTitude hold at 200 feet in a slight nose up and it climbs to 210 feet, does the SCAS settle it at 200 feet? or? - couldnt think of an alternative.. 2. If you press ATTitude hold at 100 knots and it rumbles to 105 knots does the SCAS lift the nose slightly to hold 100 knots? or? - same as above what is the alternative.. 3. If you bump ALT hold at 200 feet and ATT at 100 knots within a second of each other within reasonable margins, does the SCAS compensate? - if not what does it do? Then - I would assume the Collective SCAS kicks in in someway to assist with the 1, 2 hold requests as an individual condition, and for 3, would then choose requested ALT hold as priority over ATT hold, and slow the helo rather than a slow descent into the ground (within its parameters) Are we over expecting Holds to act like an "auto-pilot~ish" - StabilisationCAS would make you think it was "capable~ish" This is of course a simplified question, aware there is also the additional work on YAW by the Tail rotor for all 3 scenarios affecting available power etc Going to the Video posted above of a slowly increasing speed and loss of altitude to the point the collective is saturated, im suprised the SCAS didnt say, "hey we are going faster than requested and lower than requested and the collective is saturated, should we pull the nose to get back to the requested parameters AND reduce saturation of the collective?" It seems once saturated there is no de-saturation without pilot interaction.. Do i have a misunderstanding of the SCAS, if I do then it needs an explanation at some point, starting with, do i need all my parameters to be exact before i use Hold/Holds... or can i expect the parameter at the time of pressing the Hold to be acheived/maintained thorugh the SCAS - (within reason, ie nose down dive click ALT Hold - Crash likely) In general im talking about using Holds for Straight level flight on a heading or a gentle orbit, at reasonable speeds, for the hold modes, not zing zang combat stuff.. Also i am aware, im not a SME,or a RL pilot, and its EA, Are we entertained...... Hmm didnt know how to add quotes,,, still not sure so hash it with an edit
