Agreed, that's not good at all. 😞

Countless gamers, reviewers, overclockers, system builders/repairers and, I suspect, even manufacturers, all use Afterburner or something derived from it.
Alexey Nicolaychuk is a small genious, and one we all have a lot to be very thankful. Unfortunately, he's one more victim of this stupid war (as all wars are).

I've been using RivaTuner since 2005, and MSI Afterburner since 2011 (also EVGA PrecisionX, back then was basically same thing with different skin, before their split in 2014).
It's one of those tools that I always use no matter what GPU I install, be it in my systems or of friends, or of customers.

Would be sad to see this tool stagnate or, even worse, abandoned then disappearing.

eVGA Precision is likely gone too, as eVGA has left the GPU Market.

Will we be able to use what we have now ?  Shoot I’d buy that program if he needs to get paid. If everyone that owns it which is probably millions and gave him a dollar he would be a millionaire.

If it's working now, it will keep wokring... Until it doesn't. Unless they figure how to get the man paid or if someone else picks up the mantle.

I always thought it was developed BY MSI. Interesting. Sounds like they're intending to develop it on their own now, though.

That's not how sanctions work. Kind of the point.

Well, since this war is likely to continue (likely for years to come), the best workaround is for developer to relocate to more accessible location.

Candidates include the cities still having direct flights to/from Moscow.

I would suppose exactly zero countries are lining up to give away visas to Russians these days. Flights are not the hard part.

Tourist visas, no, but you can still fly there and ask for asylum. Everyone is a potential target for persecution in Russia these days. In fact, according to their own law, they should send Putin himself to prison for "spreading misinformation" (he called the thing in Ukraine "war" once, in public, which is apparently enough for other people). I think it's in everyone's best interests at this point for as many Russians as possible to vote against the war with their feet, which is the only legal (for now) way for them to do it.

All that aside, it's more likely he'll just... do something else. World's not gonna end for him (or us) over an overclocking utility. I'd hazard it probably wasn't his only source of income.

I just got a 4090 Gigabyte card and am using their software to control. It is more I guess rudimentary that Afterburner and Precision but seems to be getting the job done ok for me now, once I got my arms wrapped around it some.

There's really nothing to worry about until the next generation of video cards as MSI Afterburner already seems to be working with 40xx GPUs. If the next generation has some architectural change that has something else to configure/control, and changes how some current/existing settings are signaled to the hardware, at that point there is a problem -- not before.

I'd avoid unofficial links/builds, like I said, MSI AB external Links / Builds were the leading distribution platform for Crypto-Minerware.

About MSI Afterburner.

Anyone knows the setting to retain perf overlays in DCS replays? I managed to find them but lost them apparently, I have overlay but no longer in replays.

Cheers.
