Hello,

Not sure what I did to my settings - I did accidently reset everything and had to put it back - but even with with display setting at 256, I lose almost 50% of my FPS when the Vikrs fire and I'm looking at it closely on the display. When I had display setting at 1024 and fired two Vikrs at once, my FPS would drop from 40 to about 8.

I'm not having this issue on other displays. In the Hornet I can watch the show on the MFD with no loss that I notice. Seems just the Vikrs, and to a lesser extent the Kh-25s, are killing my FPS. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

How long can take this to fix it? I did not fly Ka-50 since 2.8 update what did messed up everything. 5 month later half off things still broken.

Hi,

Which DCS.exe are you using? ST or MT? Do you notice this on every DCS map or just a specific one? I can't say whether the following tip might bring some relief or not: There was a recommendation in graphics.lua, which is located in the subdirectory \Config, to set the value for maxfps from 180 to 300. Maybe then the impact won't be so serious. Because going from 40 to 8 is hardcore...

@bingbean It seems this issue does not appear for all. I tested it and could not reproduce the FPS drop, remember?

I suggest you compare your DCS settings, PC hardware, external software and Windows settings in order to find the culprit. Also check if that happens in both ST and MT.

I'm going to try it again.

Tried it first with just my Steam FPS showing but the pics don't capture it. Used the in game for these shots.

Nevada map, high settings, MT on. 3700X/32GB RAM/4070.  One Vikr fired and FPS goes from 120 to 85. That's a 29% drop. This also happened with my 2060 Super in ST, saw massive FPS drop.

But I still ❤️ my Ka-50.

i see exact same fps drop when cockpit display resolution is at 1024. from 80 fps to 48 almost the half until Vikhr smoke goes away. lowering resolution to 512 and 256 will prevent this. but weird part is that if you already have low fps like 50 fps in cockpit then it will not affect your fps that much. this is in Ka-50 lll Caucasus shooting range mission. over sea i didn't see that massive fps loss.

I'll try it at 512 like you suggested.

But I still get a fantastic picture and FPS when using the FLIR MFD in the Harrier and the Hornet at 1024. This is definitely a Ka-50 issue.

My hardware is pretty solid:

7800 X3D

RTX 3090

32 gb DD5

2To SSD

Bump for this - It's been an issue forever.

Hellfires, Spirals...etc none seem to have this problem; only happens with Vikhrs.

VIKHR FPS.trk 1.96 MB · 1 download

I've been dealing with this for a year+ and just gave up on the blackshark... Sucks because I really enjoyed flying it

I've also made a Forum post about it

yes we are aware and have a report open for it.

I can only give it another bump internally for now.

thank you

It's been a couple of updates/patches, can you please bump it again?

FPS loss during firing a Vikhr is something that should get fixed ASAP. Really bad considering the Vikhr is something everybody uses.

The Vikhr smoke within the Shkval scope absolute murders GPU usage. This is especially problematic low above forests in the Marianas map. This is maybe 40% of the reasons I don't fly the Ka-50 that much.

This is ongoing since Black Shark 2, if I'm not mistaken. Too much time has passed without a resolution on this issue of optimization. 😔
