If you have a mutli-core cpu, bs only defaults to one....the affinity tool sets all your cores to run bs. Some servers seem to lock up if you alt tab out, so I rather like this tool.

It looks like your path may be incorrect Viper.

 

My path using this tool is here:

 

C:\Games\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50

 

Did you install just to an Eagle Dynamics folder or did you install to a KA-50 folder?

 

Assuming KA-50 folder .. Check your registry entry here:

 

computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Eagle Dynamics\BlackShark

If you look at the path key in there.. is it correct?

I just realized that, in my Infinite Wisdom, I added an extra KA-50 folder sunsequent to the installation to conform with the previous XP install - obviously superflous on the Vista Install :doh:

 

Re-arranged/deleted and now all is in order!

Saying that - Is the KA-50 folder necessary? If so, am I correct in assuming that the path in the registry just has to be amended to relect the additional KA-50 folder?

IIRC, it is a bad idea. I can't recall the explanation why, but i think it had something to do with the reasoning that if BS is running, it has the highest priority already.

The program will make BS (DCS.exe) run on two cores, but what I get from other people that ran tests on performance gains is that running BS on two cores in XP makes almost no difference to running it on only one core; while running BS on two cores in Vista gives you a serious performance increase.

That's because XP utilizes several cores very badly compared to Vista

DragonRR is right. Your path in the path box should always end with ka50. You can easily fix this in the registry editor.

I was thinking myself that the sound and window was getting annoying. I'll work on it and upload the next version by the end of tonight. Also as NullCharacter suggested, it will now remind you to start the Trackir software if you have it. I just need to test it on my x64 partition.

Correct on all points.

 

Currently, Black Shark automatically sets itself to run on a single core. In the patch, the affinity setting will be accessible in the configuration files and you will be able edit and save it.
