apart from overclocks, cpu/ram, good cooling, enough fast low latency ram, ie, hardware updates. what your left with is system tweaks.

try alacrity pc its freeware, shut down unnecessary processes, and programs while running bs

one profile for offline, one for online. multicore uage has to be implemented in the software. fsx was patched to allow 2 cores.but its more about the idea of getting bs to hog one core, while the the other cores handle all the other other non bs stuff. a single core will always be

reduced to time slicing. if you use alacrity to shut down and restart bloat,it has to be done differently than most games, because bs is module based, the shutdown pofile has to point at notepad or whatever, when shutdown completes, minimize notepad not close, fire up bs,when finished max notepad, close, alacrity will restart all the bloat for you. a bit of extra without hardware expense, but i always overclock extreme for the challenge...jim

I'm sure that's a useful post, but for the life of me I have no idea what it says.

I can see people taking to alcohol trying to follow the OP's directions...?

Running Vista with a decent amount of memory on a multicore CPU, shutting down all those tiny apps that use a squeak of processor time once in awhile is going to do sod all. Perhaps in XP it might give you an extra frame or two here or there but seems like a whole lot of effort to achieve it.

For instance, I happily run BS with 3 virtual operating systems running in the background at the same time. An XP box, A 2003 box and a SUSE box. If I shut each of them down as well as all the other processes that I run in the background I see no change in FPS whatsoever.

Right now, as I type this post, 99% of the time, all 4 of my cores are showing 0% utilisation with ocassional spikes to 1 or 2%.

If your machine is stretched for resources then by all means, start shutting things down. However, compared to all the other sims I own, BS doesn't have much of a memory footprint and under Vista, doesn't max out any of my cores. I'd suggest the majority of people who have a decent spec PC under 2 years old would gain very little benefit for BS doing this. The rest, just do it manually to see if it makes any sort of difference before trying to automate your impending system meltdown.

Aye Purg.

It maxxed out both my 3.16 cores, however instead of gaining back the 1% or less that was not used by BS (by using FS-Autostart) I overclocked to 3.8GHz.

Seemed to do the trick.

Good one that mate, lol.

small translation for humans: (at least what i think he wants to tell us)

He wants us to use a program which seems to shut down processes not used by DCS while we are in the sim and starts them back up once we leave the sim.

And that would help us getting a better framerate....

And for all the other stuff he written there i also just understand some weird bla bla bla's =)

A little help. Alacrity PC is the new version of FSautostart by Ken Salter.

FSautostart is limited by ram constraints 2gig and works best with XP

Alacrity handles both operating systems well.

SO what is it? Its a programme where (once set up and set up takes a bit of time) by a push of one button it will shut down all non essential processes / prgrammes that are running in the background and automatically launch your chosen application.

Once you close your chosen application, Alacrity will restart everything it has closed returning your computer to its original state. This should give you a performance boost. Mileage may vary depending on how many processes you choose to have shut down by alacrity.

Its a brilliant piece of kit

And they were so cruel.........I salute you bogusheadbox lol. I used use kens program years ago on XP, it was good and no problems at all. Anything it shuts down is temporary as you say, and it didnt harm a thing. Will check this out, thanks for info....KEN IS YOUR FRIEND, lol.....I trust him anyway  (and no I'm not getting payed hehe....FSAutostart was freeware anyway....Long live freeware!)
