MorgothNL
Hi there, Me and many others have rencently noticed that the airspeed indicator, altimeter and V/S indicator will get stuck when up high or otherwise flying in icing conditions. This is with the Pitot Heat circuit breaker on. The indicators will not come back to life when staying up high, but the do come back when flying low for a while. All these factors considered, I would say it is the pitot heat that is bugged.
kablamoman
I don't think it's just the K4, several other warbirds are affected. The other issue is that it happens in clear air as well. Until they can revisit the simulation for the atmospheric conditions that lead to icing (flying through cloud or precipitation in specific temperature ranges), I think they'd be better served to simply turn off this effect entirely.
ED Team NineLine Posted May 11, 2023 ED Team Share Posted May 11, 2023 I am having trouble replicating this, if anyone has a track showing it, please send my way. Thanks! Dirkan
Here you go. Towards the end when I climb out of the cloud to altitude and level off, the speed indicator climbs to over 600km/h in level flight even when the pitot heat is turned on from the start. Engine setting was about 1.2 ata. icing-with-pitot-heat.trk Edited May 12, 2023 by Dirkan

peachmonkey
yup, can attest to Anton as well, the pitot heat switch doesn't improve its operation in the snowing freezing conditions/temps regardless if it's engaged from the start or in-flight. ED Team NineLine Posted May 16, 2023 ED Team Share Posted May 16, 2023 What I noticed with the 109 is that with the pitot heat off, I did not see any issues with any gauges, but with it on I did, are others seeing this as well? I will check both 190s next. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
slickdevel
I have had airspeed go bonkers in the 109 with pitot heat on several times. No trk's though. Edited May 17, 2023 by slickdevel
peachmonkey
will try it out, it'd be funny if the switch is backwards..
kablamoman
Just a note to say I know at least the Dora is affected by the same problem.
ED Team NineLine Posted May 17, 2023 ED Team Share Posted May 17, 2023 Yes, Dora and Anton appear to not work at all, on or off. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Dirkan
Tested it for the 109K4 with the pitot heat turned off, there's still icing, @NineLine icing-without-pitot-heat.trk Edited May 17, 2023 by Dirkan
ED Team NineLine Posted May 17, 2023 ED Team Share Posted May 17, 2023 Yes, what I have seen so far is the 109 Pitot heater breaker is reversed, the 190s both of them don't seem to work at all, and same with the SPitfire although still checking the Spitfire. 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
Dirkan
Both the track with pitot heat and without pitot heat in the Bf 109K4 shows icing. On or off doesn't matter. It's the same as the 190.
