16th Widowmakr Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 nI get an error saying there isn't enough room in the Downloads folder? Where is this folder and how do I make room for the update? AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 32 Gb RAM, Nvidea GTX 1050 TI Water Cooled, Windows 10 64 bit
Flappie Posted June 8, 2023 Posted June 8, 2023 It depends. The "Downloads" fodler is part of your Windows user folders: "C:\Users\your_login\Downloads". But DCS has its own "_downloads" folder, when downloading updates. Example: "C\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS\_downloads". ---
16th Widowmakr Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 Found that folder but it is empty!?? AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 32 Gb RAM, Nvidea GTX 1050 TI Water Cooled, Windows 10 64 bit
IvanK Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Can you manually set the folder to a drive with more space thats different to your install drive? I know in the past this could be done.
16th Widowmakr Posted June 9, 2023 Author Posted June 9, 2023 I have no idea how to do that! AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor 3.4 GHz 32 Gb RAM, Nvidea GTX 1050 TI Water Cooled, Windows 10 64 bit
Solution 16th Widowmakr Posted June 9, 2023 Author Solution Posted June 9, 2023 Ok after a short google and a couple youtube videos I have fixed the problem. I was running out of space on my C drive so I moved my DCS folder and Saved games folder to a empty 500 GB SSD. Simple cut and pastee of the DCS folder and renaming the location of the Saved Games folder. After that I got the latest update and copied the executables to my desktop for the new location and all is well. Dragan Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Does the new update also apply to the stable version or just OB?

False positives will happen from time to time because the way AV solutions tries to look into the future.Just make your Saved Games and DCS folders excluded and forget about it. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk Don't take this the wrong, it is written in the internet and we don't know each other backgrounds or first languages...A bit about me: I'm a software engineer turned DBA with 35 years of IT experience, currently working for the Health Care industry. Never said that they did anything wrong, much less on purpose, but we live in dangerous times, from an IT perspective. If you want to assume that their (or ED's or yours) precautions are infallible, well, that is your choice , definitely, not mine. Yes, false positives do happen often, because of multiple reasons. One of those is that AV software try to "look into the future" as you said, because, we are at the defensive here... Hackers have the initiative. But, blindly (as in somebody, who we don't know or has official ties with with the files, posted in an internet forum that it is a false positive and can be ignore), ignoring them is not a good idea. I choose to "ignore" them because of my setup but it is not an advice I would give. The fact that is the same vendor (perhaps same IT infrastructure) makes it even more suspicious and I have not seen a comment from ED or the 3rd party, that the files are safe. Cheers
Flappie Posted June 9, 2023 Posted June 9, 2023 Please don't derail the present thread, which is about "Unable to update to 2.8.6.41066". 2 ---
speed 718 Posted June 10, 2023 Posted June 10, 2023 So after so many searches, I finally realized that the updater wasn't working. It had nothing to do with the AV or the space on the drive. The updater just isnt running. So hit your windows button and type in "update DCS". Open the corresponding file and it will update DCS!
